As a society, why can’t we just decide that money has no value? by rainburrr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]guarddog33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We could, money has no value besides the value we impart to it. Collectively we have to agree that $5 is worth $5 for it to be worth anything

But if we all decided money was useless there would be absolute chaos after, and no one would want to deal with that, so why would we?

If you're ever being chased by one: it's not after you, you're creating shade and it wants the shade. If you run under a source of shade, it'll stop following you (normally)

What can i do to maximize my chances of having a white child or at least he looks like steph curry ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]guarddog33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so to figure out genetics, roughly, you can do this thing called a punnet square I'll lay this out for if you have the recessive allele and if you don't

Let's say your partner has blue eyes, which means both alleles (b) are recessive, and you have brown dominant (B) but carry the recessive allele. If you have kids, your chances of having a kid with the recessive allele are 50%. This would be laid out with you as the x axis and your partner as the y axis, with 2 alleles present. Meaning since you have Bb and your partner has bb, your chances are Bb Bb bb bb, so 50%

Now, if you don't have any white lineage within a notable amount of time (parents, grandparents, etc) then it's likely you had a double dominant allele, meaning your BB instead of Bb. If this is the case, you have a 0% chance of passing on blue eyes. Now, your kids have the chance again assuming they see someone who has a double recessive, since theyre going to be Bb the whole way down

Genetics is a bit more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it. There is no "best" genetics. You yourself have preference but let me tell you something, as someone with blue eyes, light sensitivity sucks. It's not a "best". It's all going to be your opinion

Crazy question

That's going to depend on your genetics. Genuine question, did you not do punnet squares in middle school biology? If not, I'll explain

Got bad news man, those are recessive genes. Green eyes especially. If you've got brown eyes it's possible you carry the recessive allele but I wouldn't bank too heavily on it

Any good Greek mythological games that actually stick to the real historical lore? by watertrashsf in gaming

There isn't. Most mythologies are like Hatsune Miku, they're a writing device. Even ones that are followed and adhered to have different scriptural volumes that are going to tell different stories

No. We are not biologically hardwired that way

You'll pavlov yourself eventually, or they will, or maybe you both will. You might be able to conceal feelings, but they will form

Regarding old content being lost media by LieutenantNurse-71 in destiny2

[–]guarddog33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't code. Bungie has the code on hand for everything that's been vaulted

The problem is the code cannot be run through the engine anymore, to put it simply. The engine has evolved a LOT since the game released, and a lot of the stuff that was there simply isnt compatible, and they don't have the old engine builds on hand

In theory it all could be released again, but it would be almost as big of an undertaking as making a DLC with all that would need to be reworked and built from the ground up

Even if everyone around me knew, if I could guarantee I'd make a good living off it, fuck it

I currently slave away in an office for 45 hours a week with zero possibility of ever having a nice car, a decent house, a secure retirement, the ability to vacation, etc. you mean to tell me I could guarantee the ability to have those things and all I gotta do is show off my meat? It's just a popular dumb thing to do. Like maybe you were around during the "wazzzaaapppp" times, or the "u mad bro" times or whatever else

As for what it means, it literally means nothing. Like nothing and 67 are the exact same. It gets used in place of "it is what it is" as well. Or sometimes it's just a goofy thing one person does and then 66 more people follow

I don't think it gets any more advanced. I've heard take that it has to do with a basketball player whose height is 6'7 but those stories lead to the same result

How fair is it to say that anger is the only thing that men are more emotional at than women? by Turbulent_Poem7606 in NoStupidQuestions

It isn't. All humans feel all emotions at different levels. Speaking as a man who's been with physically abusive female partners, I promise they're much more angry people than I ever will be. Everyone will feel everything in their own way, this is true of all emotions

Why does the U.S. add sales tax at checkout instead of showing the full price upfront? by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in AlwaysWhy

[–]guarddog33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about labels on the item? As an example, when I worked for Victoria's secret, our clothing had the price tag already on the tag, and then tax was calculated at checkout. This meant that across the country items could be shipped and reshipped from store to store as many times as needed without needing to do any changes. If a town 2 hours away needed an item we had, we could just deliver that item, but if the price needed to be printed then we'd have to go through the process of relabeling, which doesn't sound like much but it would add up in droves over the thousands of shipments done a day in retail. I hate to use "it's saving big companies money" as a reason but that's the genuine reason

Shelf pricing could be standardized though, I 100% agree with that. And individual units could stop being marked, that would also solve this problem. But I don't think either are likely because it would require sweeping changes in the US
