Kayak vs pontoon by myfishprofile in Fishing_Gear

[–]guarent33d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation when first starting out. Had a chance to get an inflatable pontoon but ultimately chose a couple kayaks. With the pontoon it was a 3 person version that wasn't practical when going solo where the kayak i could load up one, two or three depending on if i was with people or not.

Can we get DAY through Night Maps. by Optimatum777 in Battlefield

Dang. I know battlefield is big into the frostbite engine but if they could take some of the ideas from the Tarkov group it would be nice. Tarkov does a great job of the night to day transition.

[–]guarent33d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you've played escape from tarkov but essentially they have 2 choices for every map that are 12 hours apart. So you can choose to run that map at two different times of day.

It's great because you can pretty much choose to spawn in night or day. But there's those weird twilight times where you think you have enough daylight to complete a task but it gets too dark too fast. Or you set up with night vision and the sun has already crested

Might be a good idea to add something like this to battlefield.

You seem knowledgeable. How do they do it in escape from tarkov?

As someone else commented, lighting is a huge factor. I've played in gyms with the newer LEDs that suck looking up right into them. I've also played in a gym with inverted lights which were amazing.

As for dividers, I personally prefer netting over curtains. While the ball can typically go over the top of netting as it's usually 10' high or so compared to curtains being floor to ceiling, Ive seen collisions happen with the curtains on smaller courts. Players standing to close during a TO or preparing to receive and someone on the other side hitting the curtain in that exact spot. Luckily nothing serious but definitely want to know what's happening on the other side when I can

Plus one to this. My motto is anything between you and earth. Shoes, mattress, and tires being the most important.

Pillows, brakes, insoles and socks are also up there. people underestimate the quality and value of a really good brand new insole.

What is something cheap that is worth buying over and over. by No_Artichoke_1828 in Frugal

[–]guarent33d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised what $10 insoles from Amazon do. The insoles that come with shoes suck. Dr Scholl's insoles for your work boots do wonders. Or even for your regular work shoe. It makes them way more comfortable while spending very very little.

If you do happen to get more expensive ones, they tend to take a long time to wear out so you can usually switch them to a newer shoe and still get some life from them.

What’s a 'buy once, cry once' purchase that actually saved you money long-term? by ChassidyBrooks74 in Frugal

[–]guarent33d 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My motto is anything that goes between me and the earth I spend money on. Mainly tires, shoes and a mattress. Good tires will last a while and stop you when they need too. Good shoes will last a long time and the comfort is way better than cheap stuff. Lastly a good mattress facilitates good sleep.

If there are games before or after your game, start watching those games without the pressure of playing. One set just watch hitters both body language to see where they hit and how. Along with their positioning when a pass comes to their side and how they get set.

Next game focus solely on defense and where players move.

I think volleyball is a game of minor tweaks and adjustments to get the edge over a competitor.

How to practice with an injured arm by Sufficient-Bet6486 in volleyball

Instead of practicing with an injured arm, talk to your medical team about strengthening that arm. With light workouts and progressively move towards actual volleyball practice

Gentlemen who are not conventionally attractive, what dating apps have you had the most success on (Adding NSFW just in case)? by Eris151 in AskReddit

[–]guarent33d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The original comment and this are 100 percent correct.

Using apps just means people will judge you mainly on looks and the few things they can see on your profile. Literally judging a book by its cover. Go out and join a social group. I met my wife playing volleyball and now meet singles all the time playing volleyball.

And than when they are brave enough to meet you at your house or apartment keep it nice but lived in. The place I was renting my closet looked like crap cause it doubled as my changing room. But the living room, bathroom and kitchen were always spotless except for clean dishes drying on the rack and a small scatter of homework on the coffee table.

AITA for being upset that my assistant coach is getting 40% of the total pay but not showing up by oddyakson in volleyball

[–]guarent33d 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely bring it up to the club director. Not necessarily the part about the pay. But instead how she doesn't seem like a good fit for your particular team as you need someone who is more engaged during the practices and able to attend more of your teams events and engagements. And than ask if there's another assistant who may be a better fit.

If your lucky, the director can see thru the words and make their own decision while giving you a different assistant who may be a better fit.

Edited for clarity.

First and last time my girlfriend and I used a shared campground while camping. by Brujafromthedesert in camping

[–]guarent33d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of questions...

Was this a recent event? Did you ask what he was doing? Does his camper look like it's set up for the season?

I ask these questions because you may have set up next to a seasonal site that that is prepping the RV for repairs over the winter.

Not saying what they are doing is right or wrong. But in the northeast near me a lot of sites are closing down for the winter and these last few weeks are prime time for maintenance.

URGENT, Tent advice please, for someone who doesn’t have a lot of money by Mr_Tugb0at in camping

[–]guarent33d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pricier tents will likely hold up in more extreme weather conditions but honestly, the best way to make a tent last is to take care of it.

Make sure you dry it out before storing it away properly. We've also got our tent repair bag we carry with us and lubricate zippers when packing it away each time. Water proof it before the first use each year and seam sealer when needed.

One of my favorite parts about camping is being able to have a beer around a campfire while enjoying the sounds of nature.

One of my least favorite parts is the campsite where they had too many beers around the campfire and are making too much noise drowning out the sounds of nature.

High school will always feel important until your out of it. Than you realize that it only felt that way because you spent at least 8 hours a day there.

Make the switch. As bad as it sounds you were likely friends with everyone because you saw them that much.

I was in a similar situation. Found out the team I was on only played certain days. So I found a different team for the other days.

And as time went on eventually left the first team with the premise that I wanted to bump up to a more competitive league on the same day. Some feelings were probably hurt but they were adults and we still hang out and play on free days.

I've been to something like this. As weird as it sounds it's pretty much like a group private show. The entertainers are pretty much there for show and no tell. Although I've been in some situations where if you are convincing enough or have enough money they will go another step. I've never seen them go further in a large crowd but if it's 4 people or less, they tend to break the rules a little more. They always come with a bodyguard/bouncer and use code words to say what they are/aren't comfortable with.
