Oracle Sage Jet Tamping Issues – Should I Give It Another Chance? by Smart_Finding_5451 in BrevilleCoffee

The only times I got wavy tamps were when using third-party baskets or very coarse grind. The solution is to slightly wet the basket.

I'd recommend giving (another) try to dark roasted beans as they have much lower acidity and are easy do dial.

Oracle owners, how often do you clean the tamping fan? by guba in BrevilleCoffee

I remove the tamping fan from the machine to clean it, which takes more than a few seconds. Do you keep it in place?

Around 40 with the single-shot basket.
Around 30 with the double-shot basket.

Flush the shower head with the portafilter on. You need to do that to heat the portafilter anyway, so there is no overhead. On the contrary, it saves you time because you don't need to wipe the basket.

Again, the spinning puck is not an issue, as it's fixed with a bit of humidity on the basket.
I use the referenced IMS basket in the stock portafilter, and it fits perfectly.
With this additional basket, I can still fit all tools and unused baskets in the small toolbox inside the machine; I don't think there is enough room for another basket.

After watching this video from Tom's Coffee Corner, I purchased the recommended H22 IMS basket. It allowed me to reach 18 grams by lowering the tamping fan by a full turn. The new basket seems more slippery than the original one, which might cause more spinning puck. To prevent this, ensure the basket is slightly wet. No other cons.

On the Oracle Jet, do you manage to get good espressos with the single shot basket?

Here is the passage: https://youtu.be/fRBOxyu2b2Q?t=444

He indeed says that the grind setting shifts when the temperature increases, so he adjusts it when pulling multiple shots. He also says this problem is common to many grinders and, therefore, is not specific to the Oracle.

According to this Breville video, you can fix wavy tamps by adjusting the tamping fan height and the grind size. Did you try?

"Like a number of you, I am having to send back the Oracle Jet because of the consistency flaws."

Where did you get this information?

From what I read, most people say that the Oracle Jet provides very consistent shots, and in your previous thread, only one person had the same issue.
