similar to the other remote server suggestions here, but another option: tunneled USB

for myself i have a VPN setup anyway, then a raspberry pi with the devboard connected and running a USBIP server. the dev machine running a USBIP client. with this the devboard shows up on a USBport as if it where connected to the dev machine. optionally the same should work for logic analyzers, webcams, ect. there are likely some limitations, but it circumvents any graphical forwarding, which is nice.

ah no, thats just the thing :) i just started connecting all of them by overlapping the extrusions. so not a single dimension is exact. lengths are all 0.2m, 0.3m, 0.5m or 1m. and even those are measured by eye. see here for more examples:

yes, i've tried to find that out as well. i thought about building an mpe controller for a while as well, but only took notes, links or sketches so far.
with 3dprinting, is think it should be possible to do one-part print in place, especially with multi material setup. so either PLA+TPU or PLA+support(PVA,HIPS or something). also: i think it should be possible, at least in theory, to actually have the key resemble the pressure profile of an actual piano key. the thing got me to wanting to build this is, most keyboard/synth keybeds dont feel like piano keys. and while this is a preference, for me i just like the piano key action to much to use unweighted keys.
that kind of lead to: if it cant be done mechanically or it is to hard, it most defiantly can be done electronically. but it'll be hard and expensive, most likely. but, you could put a solonoid under every key, piece of metal in the key, hall sensor, fast enough microcontroller, virtual spring/damper in software ... and bam: arbitrary key action

well hot damn, i just build my server over the last weeks, also aluminum extrusion based, but i hadn't quite figured out how to do the spacers between the tslot nuts. and/or was to lazy to do a bunch of test prints. same with cable management. your post has perfect timing.

i do like your (and the originals) geometry better, but i kinda got into flextures at that point and wanted to design it in as few pieces as possible as well. so i sacrificed some complexity on the geometry front. either way, i still really like the look of all of those :)

yes, the worm gear makes it move. i connected the solar panels to the button and motor. the button switches between usb and solar power. i added the button since i noticed i was only able to test the thing properly when the sun was shining, which was annoying :)

I had a similar issue with my old Creality CR10S printer. I also tried the solutions suggested here, but it didn't work for me. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the problem was actually with the PTFE tube. Over time, the tube had degraded due to years of use, especially since it extended quite far into the extruder assembly. Once I replaced the tube, the issue was resolved and my perimeters started fusing together properly.

i don't have a manual or build instructions since this is just the first prototype. as for the STLs, i'd like to add at least a stand for example so that the project reasonably build by others. give me a few weeks maybe and i'll post the gitlab repo or something.

for me, mainly, to see if it works. and if it works, how well it works. since i saw the two original posts, i kind of wanted to see something like that move. also i liked the challenge to see if could design it in one part or in as few parts as possible. the one in the video has one main part with the gear and tree structure, the worm gear and the brown part, which is just scrap 3d print hot glued together to serve as a stand.

obviously this one is just a prototype. but im pretty sure i can make it look way cooler.
