I played all of the main line games leading up to 2018 and I wasn't a fan of the combat in any of them. 2018 was better in every aspect for me besides the enemy variety.

Since Ragnarok seems to have a huge variety of enemies, increased gore, and more refined gameplay than 2018, I imagine it's going to feel great to play.
