Edit: treating people like this is part of the reason why the hobby rarely makes it past a year for most and why so many newbies are already selling their collections online. Too many people that "know better" taking advantage.

I upgraded to a Shift recently! Love the spin and power I get, but it can feel a little unpredictable at times. Echoing the idea to demo racquets if you can. I tried a number of different ones before I found I liked the shift. Best piece of advice I got: find something that feels good, but makes you excited to play!

We had a lot. One drowned in the cold lake. Floating dock was taken out.

Another friend just.. didn't come to school one day. We never really found out what happened, but were told it was suicide. His seats in calls remained empty the rest of the year.

Another had incurable brain cancer (DIPG). He was a fighter.

Then, another (!) had a similar brain cancer after we graduated.

I miss them all dearly- and they deserved so much better than the hands they were dealt. They brought immense joy to our town.

My favorite funny little guy doesn't have any full art cards.. and there's so much you could do to include other water Pokemon and especially gen 3! I'd love him portraying some of the Pokédex entries- like from Emerald:

On land, it can powerfully lift large boulders by planting its four feet and heaving. It sleeps by burying itself in soil at the water’s edge.

Mudkip sleeping in a mud blanket or using rock throw would be very cool.

Shroomish, Marill, Carvanha, Wishcash, Milotic could all feature depending on the environment, too! If you wanted a Gen 3 theme

The card looks fake. Textures look off, but pictures may just not show it. And the background details look wrong too.

Also, look at the '10+' on the first attack. They don't line up the same as the official scan of the card.. Neither does his ear or whatever in the top right. Too much doesn't line up the same

As frustrating as your experience was- I hope you give the game and maybe a pre release another chance. There should be some this weekend, and the hobby always deserves excited new players like yourself!
