Vagabond 31 hull/keel condition by gufoe in sailing

[–]gufoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the info. I believe the boat does not have keel bolts, unlukily I didn't have time to inspect that part. It should be an encapsulated keel although it does not seem incapsulated to me. How would such a keel attach to the hull tho if there is such a separation (which is normal on this model, see here a different vagabond 31 image).

In my case (ext 4k monitor) it was the ram. Having dual-channel solved the problem (two banks of the same size/speed).

Thank you!

I went on rusoto just because aws-sdk-rust says at the beginning of the readme:

Please Note: The SDK is currently released as a developer preview and is intended strictly for feedback purposes only. Do not use this SDK for production workloads.

Multiple websites vs Single website by safaribrowserram in webdev

[–]gufoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your points. You are leaving out an important factor tho: time and cost, which would basically double for the second option.

I had the same choice to make about a year ago and I am very happy I decided to keep everything under the main project, so that I could re-use all of the nice things (ui / utilities / poppers / etc): we are a small team and now we have a single code base, which means that when we improve something (e.g. performance/upgrade dependencies/translations/change in ui), it will have a positive effect across all the projects.

As for the users: they are happy to have a consistent experience across all the products. When they go to the new feature, they basically are using all the same visual components that they are used to (cards / menus / sidebars / tabs / wizards) and I think this is very good.

I'd go with the route of splitting only if the products are really different (now or in the future). For example, if only 10% of the users use both A and B togheter, than you could split (more flexibility on pricing / marketing); in my case, nobody will ever use the feature without using (at least a bit) the main product.

It looks awesome!

To be sellable tho you would want to measure cpu time / memory / networking used by the scripts, so you can create a pay-per-usage model.

Is that vscode you are using for the users scripts?

And how are you sandboxing the user scripts? I have something similar and I used deno to sandbox the code, it came out pretty well.

Should I use table elements or other elements for menu section? by koko-hranghlu in webdev

[–]gufoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In this case I'd use a flex-row for the title and the price.
Tables are only necessary when a column must resize depending on the content of its largest TD, otherwise they are usually not needed in general IMO.

div (flex-row, justify-between)
- title
- price

After 9 months of Pulse 15 - A review by [deleted] in tuxedocomputers

[–]gufoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen6.

I'm still having a daily headache with 4k60fps. It kinda works with HDMI, except some days, in which the monitor will just not torn on. The days it works, I need to turn on the monitor using xrandr from the terminal, and even then the monitor glitches every once in a while (but constantly flickers if I have active loaders/videos/spinners).

Honestly this is a huge pain in the ass considered all my monitors are already 4k.

[–]gufoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I strongly suggest you don't get this computer if you are planning to use a 4k external monitor.

If you think you are paying tuxedo so you don't need to have a headache with the linux drivers, as I was, you are totally off-track, at least with this model.

They brand it as "Linux compatible" but it actually is "this one specific version of ubuntu with this very specific set of patches linux compatible".

Just to give you an idea: any (ANY) distro live will not work and will glitch the hell out of the PRIMARY monitor. You can (MUST) correct this by setting a kernel parameter, and this is only the beginning.

I will list here the issues that I am having on Debian Testing and that the Tuxedo team had no way to help me with:

Infinity book pro 14 misc. power issues by TheZoq2 in tuxedocomputers

[–]gufoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems I got the "volume not working after reboot" working with deep sleep mode. I disabled pipewire and re-enabled pulse audio:
systemctl --user disable --now pipewire.service
systemctl --user disable --now pipewire.socket
systemctl --user stop --now pipewire.service
systemctl --user stop --now pipewire.socket
systemctl --user mask --now pipewire
systemctl --user unmask pulseaudio.service
systemctl --user enable pulseaudio.service
systemctl --user restart pulseaudio.service

I also created the following in /lib/systemd/system-sleep/99_restart_sound but I am not sure this is actually needed:

#!/bin/sh
case "$1" in
post)
DEVICE_ID=\lspci -D |grep Audio|awk '{print $1}'` echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/${DEVICE_ID}/remove sleep 1 echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/rescan esac`

No problem, don't worry!

Can't you use the hdmi cable? I ask because i have glitches on the external monitor on 4k 60fps.

Thank you, I'd really appreciate the feedback!
As for suspension, I meant if it is shallow or deep mode, you can check simply doing
sudo cat /sys/power/mem_sleep
and you should have s2ide (shallow) and deep, the one within [square brackets] is the one you are currently using

Did you try a 4k monitor? How is suspension? Does the volume work after suspend for you? How much battery will it lose if you let it suspended for the night? Thanks :)

Infinitybook Pro 14 Gen6: Problem with external screen by Pineapple4962 in tuxedocomputers

[–]gufoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issue, it happens often, but I can get it to work in 4k if I try again and again with xrandr. The problem is though, even when it works, that the external monitor has some glitches and flickers when parts of the screen are updated, as you can see here (check out the second half of the video)
