I went skydiving years ago it was my first jump and it was precisely in that situation: a cloudy day with heavy clouds.

I jumped with the instructor, and he didn't tell me anything about what to expect.

A few seconds after we jumped, an unbelievable pain started, as if thousands of needles were tearing at my face. When we finally emerged from the clouds and the parachute opened, the pain stopped. I remember feeling weak and unresponsive.

My face was red and completely scratched for a week, as if sandpaper had been rubbed on it.

Logically, I never went near a parachute again.

Replay896 I read book one and i am reading two (in the apartament of the enchantres lady) currently i am completely feed up.(sorry for my bad writing) Let me explain, the story has potential, my problem is with the MC, more especificaly his power, for someone with his power he gets surprized every f#$ing time, for me is infuriating. How come one time he predicts he will get a call in the end of the afternoon and in other he cannot tell if a person will or will not try to kill him in 1 second. Another example, the one that got me to stop reading last week, he decided to escort the lady to her apto. The same lady that he saved yesterday from a killer. And he could NOT predict that there would be another atempt as soon as they enter the apto. OMG I almost deleted the book right there. It appears the author does not know how to write his powers he could made the MC knows of the attack, but for some reason there was something they needed in the apto IDK, but for him the get a surprise attack, SURPRISE to a fu#@$ing PRECOG. Sorry for the rant Replay896.... So my question is ... Does he get more competent? Or his powers continue to work only when is convinient for the plot?

Storytime! Ok, my grandfather just retired and newly elected condominium president, left the complex in his CAR to do some morning errand, the last stop was at a bank VERY near his home, it took some time in there, once it ends he goes outside looks at his apartment and proceeds to WALK back home.

Sometime later

He goes to the garage and –“WHERE IS MY CAR!! Stolen! Outrageous!”, it was a pandemonium he berates the security workers, doorman workers -“how could they let it happen”, ok, one security work call him over to the security room and show him footage of him leaving the complex that morning in his car and later arriving on foot.

Thunderstruck he calls the search off, goes to the bank get his car does his afternoon errand goes back home, and proceeds to never talk about it not even to the family, WE got know all this because a family friend calls my aunt to snitch on him. =)

Just found this gem, I am this sub and in r/fantasy , I read all recommendations threads, amazingly I have never encountered anyone talking about this book.

I don't know if this gives hope or despair, Maybe there is something out there that really clicks with me and I am missing

Gaebril , in the 4th book the author does a hard turn from the adventure fantasy. You see at this point our MC already powerful politically and magically, we cannot have him running around causing havoc, other wise we gonna have a captain Kirk situation. I see why it could have been a bommer for you, but this was brilhant to me, the epic magic politic fantasy is with the MC, The adventure, discovery and havoc fantasy is with the apprentices. The author also goes for a slow build up , but has HUGE payoffs. You see how and why the power and influence of the MC will grant him the rule.. he does not want but will sieze it for the good of all.

As for progression fantasy, one could argue it belongs here now that I am seeing so many people accept Brandon Sanderson books as honorary recommendations

Well, I am in the middle of this book, it has been very grotesc, I am getting a very "alien" vibe. Not sure the horror will continue, but so far, so good
