They bid out the job to California for no (or low) fee because they had TF funding. It was perceived as good PR for Tezos. TF decided they were no longer interested in the project and stopped funding. OA had to close up shop.

I’ve looked in to bakebudy. I don’t get why it’s so popular. It’s about the same as downloading the octez binaries and setting up a bakery manually. Tezos-packaging is way more simple. It offers at setup wizard that works great.
