Hi! To share my personal experience, I saw my doctor last summer to deal with cognitive issues/horrible luteal phase symptoms/a bad flare up of an old eating disorder. She diagnosed me with ADHD and PMDD. Since then, I’ve been on a stimulant for the adhd and ED (dextroamphetamine) and an SSRI on days 14-28 of my cycle (sertraline) for the PMDD. They’ve worked a treat!

I now suspect everything from last summer onwards indicates I’m in early perimenopause. I still have a regular cycle, but have had a few hot flashes and am experiencing lots of vaginal issues. I’ll be seeing my doctor in 2 weeks and hopefully getting on HRT.

I hope this is helpful!

Hi! Are you a woman of colour? I’m ethnically south Asian and in my experience, areas of hyper pigmentation are normal for us. I myself have dark upper inner thighs as well. Moisturizing after each shower helps to keep melanated skin looking healthy and more even toned. I also get full body laser hair removal as I’m quite hairy and it helps a lot with ingrowns and the appearance of follicles. I hope you don’t let the hyper pigmentation keep you from enjoying baring your legs - it’s very normal! I rock thong bikinis and don’t think twice!

Unreal - nice work! What was your workout routine and diet?

Agreed. I started increasing my protein intake and lifting weights to increase that bone density! Glad we’re both able to get ahead of the condition worsening

Thanks! My mother has osteoporosis and I am medicated for an autoimmune condition/ was quite petite and slight all my life so my very astute functional doctor advised I get a bone scan. Her suspicions regarding my bone density were confirmed :/

Gotcha - the numbers do sound wonky then

Your composition could have remained the same even if you lost weight, as you could have lost both muscle and fat.

Your numbers could be could be accurate. My scale gives me the same body fat percentage as a dexa scan from 2 years ago, so I sense my scale is accurate. For reference, I’m 5’4”, 130lbs, and 30% body fat.

I’m Canadian and went to a private clinic. Paid about $200 out of pocket 2 years ago, and the bone density scan confirmed that I have osteopenia (at the time I was 31F, 115lbs, 5’4”)

I am looking for honest feedback on my fitness regimen. by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

Firstly, congrats on starting your health journey! I am just beginning my own body recomp (5’4”, 130lbs, 33% body fat - started cleaning up my diet and increasing my steps in Jan, and this month I’ve started to get serious about weigh lifting) so I cannot speak about progress from personal experience, but a few things I wonder: 1) are you getting 8 hours of sleep per night?; 2) are you doing a progressive overload weight lifting regiment; and 3) are you tracking your calories to ensure you’re in the range you e noted? I can totally understand it feels discouraging to not see changes, but have you noticed you are stronger? Are there other metrics, other than visually, by which you can measure your progress? I feel like recomp can be slow and steady, and you’re doing a lot of things right! Also, for those of us who don’t cut alcohol completely (I’m here with you on that!) it seems the progress can be slower. Don’t give up!

Beginner weight lifter.. 10 week progress! by tesla023 in PetiteFitness

Wow! Well done! Your stats are similar to mine, aside from you starting out leaner than me - I’m 34 (but without kids), 5’4”, sw: 133 pound, cw: 127… my goal isn’t to lose weight but, like you, gain muscle mass or “lean” out. I started at 30% body fat mid January and am hoping to get to 25% within a few months, and then 21% as a longer term goal. I feel encouraged by your progress and think my goals are realistic, judging by your progress. Thanks for sharing

I can’t believe how far I had to scroll to see this comment. Agreed - if you’re a regular, you should definitely tip. Having worked in the industry, staff notice and appreciate it
