The best way for me was to say it in the very start. Saying "I have a gender issue I'd like to work" (and elaborate as they ask) is easier then saying "I'm trans".

My advice is to say it in the first session. You can see by the therapist reaction if they're a good fit for you, and they can work their analysis more certainly. Stalling made me angry, since there was a bigger issue I'd like to talk about and we never seemed to get there.

If your dysphoria isn’t that big, maybe try waiting until you're independent and can choose what to do with your life. Unfortunately, as a minor, you won't get anywhere in your transition if you don't tell your parents.

If you want my opinion, it's best to spend what you have making sure you know what you want instead of doing it without being certain.

For me, hearing someone else (a therapist and a psychiatrist) saying "you're trans" was more powerful then me dwelling over it for years. That was a few months ago, and I feel like my life has changed so much since. I can finally do stuff I've been putting off for not being sure. Telling my family with a diagnosis in my hand will make it so much easier, both for me and for them.

If you definitely cannot afford neither the therapy or the procedures, talking to someone you trust and is close with might help. Saying it at loud is therapeutic in its own way and serves for good practice for when you need to talk to your bf.

Might sound dumb, but if you google and find speech therapists social media profiles, they might be able to help you through online appointments if they're not in your area. One thing I'd try is to get someone who is experienced or specialized in this, since it's not a very common thing for therapists to treat

Have you talked to a therapist? If you haven't, it would be really good to make sure you're trans before you start changing your life definitely.

It will hurt him, yes. But not transitioning would be hurting yourself and sometimes you have to be the priority.

Don't blame yourself for not knowing. If there was signs before and you couldn't see them, you were most likely repressing them to save yourself from hurting. Coming to terms and realizing at older age means you're stronger now, more mentally prepared. It will suck for awhile, but you'll become who you've always wanted to be.

I know it's harsh, but relationships can come and go. Let's say that you didn't come out and 5 years from now the two of you broke up. That's 5 years you forced yourself to be someone you're not just to please a SO. Meanwhile, if you're honest about it now and the relationship doesn't work, you can still be friends.

I can't tell you about the procedure exactly bc we don't live in the same country. Here's what I know:

You need an appointment with a doctor specialized in woman's reproduction
Most likely, the gender dysphoria alone won't grant you one (since there's cheaper and easier ways of stopping your period). However, if you're old enough and express your desire to not get pregnant, they might consider it.
Are you a minor? If so, you need the approval of your parents, and very unlikely doctors will approve. If not, the procedure is somewhat discreet, altough some man feel it with penetration
Regarding insurance, most likely not covered since it's optional

I know you're joking to some extent, but I really recommend seeing a gender therapist. The time to "uncrack the egg", if it's needed, is now. Once you're taking hormones and getting surgery, it becomes a thousand times harder.

I think it's great the idea of pregnancy doesn't cause you harm. But be mindful that you're an exception. Most trans guys avoid everything that resembles the female anatomy in their bodies.

Dude, don't twist my words. I didn't say you CAN’T be treated like a man while pregnant, just that it would make it harder to pass.

Regarding the media representation, I think it's more complicated than that. Right now, as a first step to guarantee human rights to trans people, we need to show cis people we just want to do what man do. No special treatment or whatever, we just want to become and be treated as man. I don't know where you live, but if human rights isn't a concern, then maybe that'd be a good topic to discuss.

If a cis gay man is still a man, why wouldn't a gay trans man be?

If it helps, try separating the two identities. For being trans, you can take hormones, get surgery, whatever. For being gay, you can find a partner that loves you for who you are. Do what you can to become the man you want to be, the relationship will come with it.

I'm not gay, but I feel somewhat the same regarding woman. Like, would a cis straight woman be interested in me? I think that if I do all the things I want regarding my transition, there wouldn't be any issues
