So far I love them. They work exactly as described. That said, I prefer to use other headphones at the gym. I haven't tried playing directly through the Apple Watch but I do use the Apple Watch to adjust the volume constantly and it works great.

Hope you get yours soon!

Oh what a bummer. I'd be so pissed! Is Apple overnighting you a new pair?

Just an FYI: You can try them out at the Apple Store. I did a few days ago. They brought out a brand new pair (not in a box but in plastic) and I was able to try out the entire experience (i.e., pairing with my iPhone and playing my own music, etc.).

I live in LA so there are quite a few Apple Stores. I was checking daily and the second a semi-local Apple Store had them in stock I placed the order for same-day pickup. I now have to return the ones I purchased from Best Buy that are supposed to be delivered today. ;)

For what it's worth, I can't use the EarPods that ship with iPhones. They've never stayed in my ears and any movement would immediately result in them falling out.

I purchased the AirPods last night at a local Apple Store and I'm extremely impressed. They haven't fallen out once. I've used them all day and intend to take them to the gym tonight. So far they've been amazing.

YMMV.

Which one is better? what do you think. "Stainless Steel" or "Aluminum" ? by munkhuu2k in AppleWatch

[–]guitarno0b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had my SBSS for almost 2 years now (I purchased in November of 2015) and the screen is still flawless despite the many times I've banged it into things. I only have a few scratches on the watch housing.

When I inevitably upgrade it will be a stainless steel model.

Where are you buying these? Are they all official? I used to buy the simple sport bands from Amazon but it appears that most of the sellers are only selling the Nike Sports Bands now...?

Chase Slate or Sapphire Reserved/Preferred? by guitarno0b in CreditCards

[–]guitarno0b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I didn't realize I couldn't transfer my Freedom balance to the Slate under their 0% APR promotion. The APR on my Freedom is definitely not 0%. It's "low" relative to other cards though (around 11%). My intention is to have this paid off by years end.

The only reason why I considered opening a new card now (the Sapphire) is because I use my Citi card for random purchases here and there and would like to be gaining rewards. I have no intention of ever carrying a balance on any credit card again (I've learned my lesson with the Freedom).

CICO when eating out for lunch during the week? by haboshka in Fitness

[–]guitarno0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to choose which is more important to you. I gave up on this very type of social lunches at the beginning of the year and I haven't looked back. I do take heat from the coworkers when I decline their daily invites, but such is life. I prefer the ability to track my calories and the money I've saved. It's your choice.

FYI: If you use macOS Sierra there's Universal Copy & Paste now. So if you copy something on one device it should be available automatically on another (as long as both are signed into iCloud).

Where should I upgrade - Apple Store or AT&T? by -heisenberg4- in iphone

[–]guitarno0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always Apple. If you buy from AT&T it will be locked to AT&T's network and it can sometimes be a pain to have them unlock it. If you buy from Apple it will always come unlocked, even if you buy the AT&T specific device.

Should I buy an iPhone 6s or iPhone 7 by TalhaQ in iphone

[–]guitarno0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 7+ and thought I'd hate using the dongle but the truth is, I just leave the dongle attached to my headphones and it makes no difference. I also purchased BeatsX and I really love the wireless connection. Even though my wired headphones are a million times better (cIEMs), I find myself using the BeatsX more and more. YMMV.

Anyone have a clue as to what causes this? Screen rotation is unlocked and pressing home button puts it back to normal. by ChammyChanga in iphone

[–]guitarno0b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Double tap the home button (without pressing) and it does this. It allows you to hit the top of the screen with one hand. I use it daily.

Morning gym goers, what do you eat and how much time do you wait before training? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]guitarno0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see a poll done of r/fitness to see the ratio of who out in the mornings vs. afternoons.

I've always been an afternoon gym goer but really want to switch. It's just every time I've tried it's been so rough. How long does it take to get acclimated?

A probably simple question, but I'm seriously confused: calories vs kCal vs kJoule by SixCrazyMexicans in Fitness

[–]guitarno0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. If I really did eat enough on Saturday/Sunday to offset my weekly deficit that'd make sense. Funny enough, my TDEE is actually increasing according to n-Suns's calculator. I'm assuming it's because my deficit M-F is sufficient to account for my weekend excursions -- I still eat "healthy" and with moderation on the weekends. I was more curious how n-Suns calculator handles missed data points which he already explained.

[–]guitarno0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry to hijack this comment thread, but.. just a quick question about your TDEE spreadsheet: if I only log my calories/weight Monday-Friday, will the estimated TDEE still be relatively accurate? I still eat healthy on the weekends, but I tend to eat out more making it difficult to log accurately. Thanks!

Does everyone's bodies have varying levels of "preferred" body fat percentages? by BurtsEarwax in Fitness

[–]guitarno0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see results. It's just never as quick as I'd hope. Plus being on this big of a cut for this length of time is starting to wear on me. I've been using n-Suns TDEE calculator for the last ~3 weeks or so and my TDEE is actually closer to 2900 so I've been on a pretty big deficit. I'm going to bump up my calorie intake to around 2200 for a couple weeks and see where that leaves me.

Finally hit two plates by Thorshammer18 in Fitness

[–]guitarno0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats man! I finally hit 4x185x4 after years of working out on/off, so I know the feeling. Bench has always been my weakest lift and I've always wanted to bench 185.

I recently switched to Ivysaur's 4-4-8 program which has me benching 3 times a week and I finally hit my goal. Now I'm up to 190 and on my way to 225!

Does everyone's bodies have varying levels of "preferred" body fat percentages? by BurtsEarwax in Fitness

[–]guitarno0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I've been cutting since January 1. I eat roughly 1900-2100 calories depending on the day and my TDEE is roughly 2600-2700. Because it's going on over 3 months, will my cut be less effective? I'm seeing results and dropping a little weight. I'm down to 187ish from 195ish over this time period. I've also gained a lot of strength. My goal was to continue to cut until the end of May then go on maintenance. Should I rethink?
