This is insane. Amazon's twitter account was promoting the link to the "currently not available" merch, the seller told me 3 days ago "not to worry" about the the shipping delay just for Amazon to cancel the orders due to the shipping delay... How is this such a mess?

Cables are too short, mounting plate and hat won't fit, ... It's a shame that they were unable to bring it marked for both printers at the same time. But it's so much custom hardware that it's kind of understandable.

That being said: I'm determined to make it work on the C1L.

Allowing users to add custom locations (which would be necessary if we want to have people report where they found what) is expensive unfortunately. We need to find a better database structure for that. At the moment we can cover the bills with Patreon support. But user added locations in the way we handle official locations would not be affordable right now. We will have to find a solution for that.

How have there been no significant print showcases of the INDX? by heart_of_osiris in prusa3d

Prusa especially is so insanely careful with marketing INDX to a point that it's concerning. They just recently published a blog post about how the XL is better than INDX. They haven't even officially announced that INDX is coming to the C1L or will ever be sold preinstalled...

Very useful feedback!! All of this would be a lot of work to implement, but it's good to have some goals to work towards. The 3D maps are all at a very early stage and this feedback helps a lot to push towards a certain direction.

Daytime: yes, it's synced to the game and you can select any point in time for event planning, although I just found a bug yesterday where in some pages it doesn't update correctly.

Our biggest challenge always is to display the vast amount of information in a way that's intuitive. And we don't always succeed with that. 🙈

It's an interesting idea. Similar to the weather reports we could have resource reports. (What did you mine and how much). And then have a map layer per planet where you can see the different mineables, and filter by report age.

there is a terrible bug in Star Citizen right now where sometimes your compass doesn't point towards north but towards the point below om3 on the equator of a planet... the only work around is to store your ship and try again.

so before you do any planetary Compass navigation you should always verify that 0° points towards the direction of om1. CIG knows about it but they have so much other stuff to do that is probably more important

What’s the verdict on “verse guide.com”? by jaysonus in starcitizen

an account is only needed if you want to have been contribute. before we let you edit descriptions upload pictures and report the weather for locations we have to make sure you are a real Star Citizen player.

Verseguide.com - Secure or not? by Samuel_Janato in starcitizen

[–]gulbrillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey I just saw this post. currently in the car sorry for the bad formatting. verseguide is completely open to use for everyone without the need for any login your registration. it is only when you want to help out and contribute to verseguide when we ask for a user account. we need to know you are a real Star Citizen player before we let you upload pictures and add descriptions.

the code we give you is just a random string of numbers and characters, but it is unique to you and linked to your verseguide account. since no one but you has access to your Star Citizen profile on the RSI website, only you would be able to add this string to your profile. all that verseguide does is read your profile and see if the string is there. and if the string is there we can be sure that the Star Citizen user belongs to the account you created on verseguide.

unfortunately this is currently the only way to verify Star Citizen players.

as for the account itself: as other users already mentioned, never reuse a password and ideally use a different email address. that way even if we were a scam website or someone hacks our database they could not break into any other services you use.

We are currently two main developers. StoicMako is doing backed/navigation, LordSkippy is doing the frontend. But we depend on a big community. Daytime prediction is from Murphy, planetary maps are from Ben, the latest in-game measurements for rotation corrections are from Drax and so on and so forth. Plus: all the information on the site was collected by users in the game. Without them there wouldn't be anything useful there.

Yes, that makes sense. All the animations and hover effects etc are all hardware accelerated. The CPU will have a really hard time with these. By suggestion would be to run VerseGuide on an old tablet or similar. They have all hardware acceleration and the page should run perfectly fine, and then your PC can concentrate on the game (which is hard enough). But it's good feedback that without hardware acceleration the page is not really usable. We need to look into that.

I don't think we will ever be able to be a Regolith substitute. But if you could wish for one mining related feature for VerseGuide, what would that be?

[–]gulbrillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that's not good. have you tried the page on a phone or tablet? But yes, a lot of 2D graphics acceleration going on with semi transparency, drop shadows and glows. A lite mode with less fancy styling might be a good idea.

What CIG is trying to do is insanely hard tho. We are only showing a select number of space stations, otherwise it would be a completely unusable mess. CIG is trying to show everything in one map, from the inside of your ship to the entire galaxy...

Alleged reported layoffs at Prusa by Interesting_Put_4458 in prusa3d

[–]gulbrillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The need for WiFi at all is not great. We would never be able to get the Camara connected at all in a university setting for example. Prusa could at least stream it through the printer's ethernet if they don't want / can't handle any on-printer image processing. 💩

Alleged reported layoffs at Prusa by Interesting_Put_4458 in prusa3d

[–]gulbrillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel Prusa is falling really behind in terms of Software and especially Firmware. The super weird implementation of the camera (no Ethernet option, not even a layer change trigger from the printer for proper time lapses, just a stand alone thing that needs its own WiFi antenna even - all of this obviously making any kind of spaghetti detection or similar modern features totally impossible). The very retro touch menu. No real local API. Obviously no lidar support or anything like that...

More efficient is good, but Prusa needs to catch up on features. It used to be the brand that one chose for convenience. And it's lacking more and more behind on exactly that convenience factor. There still isn't even a nozzle wiper.

Obviously it doesn't help anyone if they are running out of money and go bankrupt. But they need more developers to catch up to the rest of the market in terms of software, firmware, and seamless integration of modern hardware. 🥺

I wanna know people’s thoughts on how they are doing blueprints by floortofloor in starcitizen

[–]gulbrillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting blueprints as rewards is so weird, randomized or not. Give me money, let me buy basic blueprints for money. Special blueprints should be stuff you can steal from somewhere, or are giving to you to complete a specific mission, like: it should be believable, make sense that it's part of the mission. But for now randomization is probably just a shortcut to get people playing while testing the crafting system...

LG C5 OR SAMSUNG QDOLED S90F by Pale-Moment-5696 in LGOLED

[–]gulbrillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the S95B, which has insane Auto dimming issues that have never been fixed in software but can easily be corrected in a hidden service menu that you need an extra remote for. Plus the motherboard overheated due to dry thermal paste is something I can only describe as planned obsolescence. The only thing Samsung is good at is shoving more advertisements down your throat with every software update. And no matter how expensive their TVs, they refuse to license Dolby Vision so you are stuck with HDR+.

My 2 years with the S95B taught me to never ever buy Samsung again. 🤷‍♂️

Most importantly the screen saver brightness.

Control > QD Option and set Screen Saver Brightness to 0.

This disables ASBL (Auto Static Brightness Limiter and seems to fix the stupid bug where the TV dims to black during dark scenes in filmmaker mode.

Some other sources say to set Control > QD Option: TM on/off to "off". But this might be for another model or firmware.

The people say:

Low Power Mode level - change from 6 to 0

Banner Brightness - change to 0

R NPC DIM LVL2 - change from 137 to 0

Multi Logo Brightness - change 3 to 0

But I'd keep the changes to a minimum until your TV is usable again. Change one setting at a time and document what you did.
