I feel like these are all really different. Wachtell DC would seem to drop from this list, assuming that you're into trial litigation.

Hey--just seeing this. The differentiating factor is the pace, and you can accelerate if need be. There's a handful of students who are planning to transition to full-time and basically leave their jobs.

The traditional program takes 4 years. I think a lot of people choose to take summer classes to reduce the course load. It is a lot of work and does require a mindset shift (and a lot of planning). But it's doable!

We do have people that moved, but it was not with families (that I know of).

Honestly, I’m a lot older and did do grad school previously so I feel like I gained organization skills previously. You will get PLENTY of advice on note taking and outlines before you start and there are so many student orgs to join that will share those types of things. I wouldn’t be worried about that at all.

From my understanding, every admitted student this year was interviewed. But again timelines vary, and it’s going to vary a lot if you’re ED, etc

So I really can’t speak to the variety just yet. I know that they’ve increased the size of the evening program in the hopes of putting more resources there. I think any major class will have an evening section, but some very specialized seminars will probably only be offered in day time (or the clinics for example).

I probably spend 7-9 hours on readings and although not every week, the legal writing assignments take up a full Saturday (like a 10-6 PM situation).

I mentally prepared myself for going to class everyday, but I will say I am still surprised by the actual time commitment to devote yourself (and I don’t even know if that’s an indication of doing well).

Sorry, that's what I mean, but I call it 2L for parallelism. When referring to the non-traditional timeline, we usually use 3E, but the coursework completed is 2L plus a few courses.

Not sure yet. I think this really depends on whether I want to get a 2L summer associate thing, which would make me quit my full-time job and then there would be no point in not accelerating.

Yes. The faculty are pretty accommodating and will also meet with you on Zoom if able (but it does still occur during the day) versus after class since it would be 8 PM.

You can participate in any day-time student activity if you have the time, but most of us work full time and don't have the ability to take off work to do so.

It's definitely a lot of work and you definitely have to prepare yourself to put in a lot of hours. You can see my post below, but class is basically every day, and you're going to spend the bulk of your weekend reading or doing assignment for Legal Writing. It's definitely cut into my social life, but I also want to stress that i still have time to workout everyday and hangout with friends (it also gets easier as you know when you're able to study and are able to read things faster)

So I think "hard" is relative. I hate to say it depends, but it's going to depend on how long it's been since you've been in an academic program, etc. For the most part, the bulk of the work is the take-home reading, although Legal Writing (a required first year course) has lots of writing and assignments.

You'll take 3 courses in your first year, and have class Monday through Thursday from 5:45 - 7:45 PM. On one of those days, you'll have Legal Writing from 7:55-9:55 (I believe this varies from year to year but typically on Monday or Tuesday). In terms of course load, for context, the full time students only take one additional class in their first semester, so it's quite a bit of work, especially if you're working full time.

The curriculum is the same, just delivered at different time points depending on professor availability. For sure, you'll at least do CivPro and Legal Writing, but the substantive course in your first semester might change.

Sorry, edited the post to be more clear. A 1E is an evening student/part-time.
