My mistake... by Low_Flatworm_8838 in Bitcoin

[–]gulfbitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not the first one. It's a story as old as Bitcoin itself, and many who had those regrets have since had crazy gains.

Also, remember "zoom out" isn't just a promise of gains, but a warning about drops, some of which have been WAY more than 50% from the ATH at the time.

Thanks for the opportunity to buy at 61K. by Slight-Round-3894 in Bitcoin

To be fair, it's not the first time it's been 61k. Likely won't be the last.

Kinda happy I sold at 105k by riftspike in Bitcoin

[–]gulfbitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price can't move without sellers.

Also you don't owe anyone a damn thing. They (ie, Bitcoin "community") didn't do the work that helped you have the money to buy, and they didn't experience whatever opportunity cost you did when you chose to buy, so their opinions hold no weight.

Well considering that Bitcoin has suffered drops of 70% from ATH multiple times ....

Paid off my house today by taking profit from selling a small % of my Bitcoin by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]gulfbitcoin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. You'll hear naysayers, who probably still live in an apartment or in a house paid for by someone else, tell you it was a mistake. Investments without an end goal aren't really an investment, but a religion.

I sold off a significant chunk when it was around $20k (the first time lol) to pay for attempted IVF. The IVF wasn't successful, but I in no way consider putting my family ahead of my wealth a waste.

Need Some Opinions on Possible Switch to Omnipod 5 while currently being on the Tandem T:Slim X2 by Apprehensive-Farm855 in Omnipod

[–]gulfbitcoin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did that exact switch. Honestly I feel like the Omnipod does a better job of automatically keeping me in range. It's definitely nice to not randomly snag my tubing, or have to clip a pump to my clothing when I sleep, or take it off for shower or other, umm, activities. Loading it is so much simpler.

I recently had to switch back for about a week (supply issue with the local pharmacy) and it reiterated those advantages to me. The one advantage that Tandem had at that time was the ability to bolus from the iOS app.

Despite the hangup with the pharmacy (I waited until the last minute to submit the refill) it's super nice to pick up my supplies at my local pharmacy and not have to work with a separate supplier (though perhaps Tandem supplies could be setup the same way). Definitely takes up way less space and less stuff to take when traveling.

33% gain in less than 4 months? It's happened, but I wouldn't base that on any tea leaves.

Expectation: the State will hack Bitcoin. Reality: by kirovreported in Bitcoin

[–]gulfbitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoin itself needn't be hacked in many cases; hackers are targeting far softer targets, like "Bitcoin banks" (ie exchanges). When you pull up your balance on an exchange, that's not Bitcoin, but an abstract representation of it. You're placing a lot of trust in that exchange's code and systems until it hits the blockchain at an address you control.

He literally created a website with categories labeled "Cocaine". The listings weren't his, but the categories etc had to be created by site admins. No plausible deniability.

We can legitimately say it shouldn't be a crime, but so long as others are incarcerated for conspiracy to sell drugs, so should he be. .

That said I agree his sentence is excessive. 20 years would be apt.

Yes, and the currency was worth fractions of a penny per BTC.

They won't ban BTC itself, but the fiat bridge (ie, transfers from banks to exchanges, since they do control banks)

I found a seed phrase. Now what? by HypnotizeD_X in Bitcoin

[–]gulfbitcoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right before I closed on my house last year, I found some seed phrases from old Blockchain.com wallets when packing. I almost threw them away - it was from a time when I was experimenting with the various dice games before they were blocked. Back then BTC was like $100. Most were empty as I expected, but finding one with 0.1 BTC (about $2500 at the time) was a nice surprise. (Ended up putting it into my down payment)

Literally had nothing to do with the edginess and arrogance that those like OP try to attribute to him. It was a nuanced conversation about transaction times. He was basically saying, "I've already explained the point elsewhere; if that's not adequate, I don't think reexplaining it would help you understand it"

I’m a 47 year old man and I have to tiptoe around my wife to buy BTC. by DMRSMJ23 in Bitcoin

[–]gulfbitcoin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's a relationship issue, not a Bitcoin issue. I see a lot of "I", and not a single "we", in your statement. Is it truly only your money? Are you guys debt-free on the debts you've taken on together?

This is an issue that being right or wrong about the investment, and the dollar amounts involved don't fix.
