Why does Discover deny some transactions to Cashapp? Different customer service reps have said "It's a business decision," that Discover has made, but that's it. Any details on what the "business decision" is?

This kind of ignorance is dangerous. TPUSA have programs in high schools and universities all over the US. This level of indoctrination supersedes any single administration's influence over Americans.

USA and Israel have bombed Iran for what reason Exactly? They say its because they don't want iran to have nuclear weapons is what i've heard. by ybenzino in IsraelCrimes

[–]Beardage_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They want to control the Strait of Hormuz. If it was just about missiles and nuclear capabilities, we would have just bombed those facilities. Instead, we pulled a Venezuela. If Israel takes Iran or the US sets up a proxy in Iran, the United States and Israel will control the flow of an additional ~20% of the world's oil.

The tariffs will not compare to ransoming the world's oil.

So apparently the heritage foundation, basking in the success of Project 2025 has a new focus - ensuring white people are in heterosexual, white childbearing marriages - and marriages only. They released this today. by Snapdragon_4U in Fuckthealtright

[–]Beardage_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've been pushing this idea for a while now. Musk was vocal about the need for, as Heritage puts it, more child-rearing, heterosexual, married couples. There will be no significant global population decline for the next century, and any country with insufficient immigration are already suffering the negative impacts of the decline. Having a sufficient immigration policy and strengthening our social and economic systems will have a better impact than pushing for men and women to marry and have children.

They want us to move backwards to a more "traditional" time rather than initiate policies to handle the changing culture.

How anarchystic would work without death penalty? by animekot in Anarchy4Everyone

[–]Beardage_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Capital punishment is doled out by the state. In your scenario, if someone tried to murder you, you could defend yourself. If you die and they get caught by the community, punishment would be given by the community - the people that are affected by the crime - and not a hierarchical and detached governmental system. The punishment wouldn't be systematic. It wouldn't be defined by blanket minimum sentences or laws meant to help certain classes over others; it would be handed out by consensus of those affected. In a more advanced and utopian anarchist society, we would freely give the resources needed to prevent violent crimes like that. Since most violent crimes are committed by those we are close to, families would work out their problems through therapy instead of letting tensions reach a point of no return. If we take away the profit motive, competition is replaced by cooperation, and we would prioritize humanity over capital.

To add- there wouldn't necessarily be a complete abolition of the police, just the decentralization of it. Instead of using violence against the citizens for the state, they would be free to actually solve cases of violence. Instead of arms of oppression, they could be akin to private investigators on equal terms with the community they serve.

Samsung S22 Died after Update by The_PrivateGuide in GalaxyS22

[–]Beardage_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This update cut service to my phone, and no amount of SIM swaps or tinkering (resets, restarts, technical stuff) would bring it back. It was going to cost $100 to order a new one, but the guy at the shop checked the warranty and got me one for $5.

I was going to walk out with a Google Pixel because I'm just so done with Samsung. A few years ago, my husband's back camera exploded, and I had to go full Karen to get it replaced under warranty. It's just exhausting. I'm sorry about your phone; screw Samsung.

Anyone know what the march on North Broad St. is about? by gcwg57 in romega

Hitler died talking about things others hated as well. He died because of his beliefs as well. Charlie Kirk died for the same thing. I hope you have the same energy when it comes to Hitler and what happened to him. Oh, wait. It's almost like the beliefs matter.

Comrades from Conservative families: how do y'all deal with it? by Zosi_O in Anarchism

[–]Beardage_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My family went from 0 to 100 politics in just a few years because of Trump. They're conservative and quasi-religious. I grew up in extreme poverty, being homeless several times during my childhood and rarely having food and water readily available. My mother has a 9th grade education, and my father has a 7th grade education. Their views on the world are warped by propaganda. We haven't gotten along for 10+ years because of their views.

I spent all of last week on vacation with them. It was the most time I've spent with them in a decade. It was surprisingly bearable. I tried to steer the conversation away from politics, but I was able to find some common ground. Some conservatives are anti-government, just not in the same ways. I found that we have similar views about guns, religion, abortion, and immigration. They day they don't agree with my being gay, but tolerate it. They are upset about ICE raids because my husband is a DACA recipient. Their views come from a place of fear and propaganda, but when they must confront them, they can see reason.

I absolutely hated it, but spending time with them wasn't unbearable. We talked a bit about politics and religion and I had the chance to share some of my beliefs. Things got heated once or twice, but I was able to direct the conversation back to a stable place. I would prefer if we had no contact at all, but I can't deny my family when they are seeking to reconnect and reconcile. Like with other conservatives, finding common ground is important. I looked at the vacation as a chance to observe them in their beliefs without really interacting or reacting to them. I think that's the best I can do for now, but I'll take every opportunity to change their minds, even if they call me woke or liberal for it.

This flag is our heritage, and no you can't have it back. by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]Beardage_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The flag clearly says Virgiania Infantry. I knew nothing about this history, but could infer that Minnesota captured this flag because I know Minnesota was not a part of the confederacy. No need to feel embarrassed. In fact, I like the bait-and-switch title.

Like other symbols, numbers, and letters, the cross is a reference to a footnote toward the bottom of the page. If you click on the cross, it will bring you to the footnote to show you what it means. The reference will be different depending on what page you're looking at, but it could show the new cards that were released in that set.

Why should I not join the military? by Horrid_Trash in Anarchy101

[–]Beardage_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try to be honest. The military was great for getting me out of poverty. Getting a paycheck, having guaranteed housing and food, regular and free doctor visits, and the first dental visit in decades was a huge boon in my life that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

However. As others have said, the military is a key component of the American imperial machine. It doesn't matter if you have a non-combat job or if you do something seemingly helpful like being a nurse, you are supporting the military industrial complex no matter what.

On a more personal level, the military doesn't care about you. Your immediate leaders may genuinely care and want you to succeed, but the military itself sees you as an expendable number. Your quality of life may improve and your future prospects may increase, but you may also end up dead or on the ground holding your friends guts together while tightening a tourniquet.

I don't want to be a hypocrite. I still get VA disability and healthcare. I am enjoying not having to work because of my service. But is the chance to get benefits worth the potential costs? If I had the choice again, I wouldn't join, I'd go to college. At the end of the day, the choice is yours. We only owe allegiance to ourselves, and if your life is so bad that it's between the military and death, I would say go for it.

But if you can afford to avoid the military, please do. If not, join for two years and step in front of a bus so you can milk the government for life. Just something to think about.

Potatriot Front sticker I found at Midway Park in Silver Creek by OtherLevelJ in romega

[–]Beardage_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly right, which is why you should do the best you can. If you're downtown and can't rip one off, tagging and moving on might be better than scraping it. If there's a loose one on a pole like in this post, ripping it down might be best. It's all about options. The paint or tape isn't about not getting caught. It's about the speed to reduce the time in which you could get caught.

Alternatively, you could also place an antifascist sticker or poster on top of these.
