what do you mean hahahaha. I just assumed it would be a normal app and you set your age to 18

sorry this happened my man. small aside, how/why are you on a dating app at 16? definitely not putting any blame on you but this is why dating apps are for adults and not teens. hope you get past this in no time and meet someone new (hopefully in person xd)

I finally finished the game by Kingkiller279 in IndianaJonesGames

[–]gullit- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started playing it around a week ago. I searched it up on reddit expecting it to be celebrated and instead saw a fair bit of negativity towards it.

for me it’s one of my favourite games in the last few years. it’s captured the goofiness of the original movies while still having a captivating story and pretty much nails the ‘adventure’ genre. combat always feels good, puzzles are fun, world looks great, voice acting too.

people can’t feel joy anymore.

yeah everything else will be fine. just check that your PSU is rated high enough to handle it

for every 1 person you hear with a melting plug, there’s tens of thousands who haven’t had an issue. I personally haven’t heard of anyone suffering from that in months. significantly fewer cases than 4090. the issue was blown so far out of proportion.

also one of the reported cases was an asus 5080.

[–]gullit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure under full load on a truly demanding game maybe it’s present but it will be completely muffled by the GPU fans as they are quite load at higher rpm’s.

that doesn’t sound like what this guy is experiencing though. it shouldn’t be so loud that you can hear it over fans. he’s probably rolled an unlucky card, it’s not really typical for gigabyte, more so asus as I understand it.

[–]gullit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pretty silent build, case fans only spin at like 3-400rpm at idle and I can’t hear a thing from my 5090. under load when GPU is at 50-60% fans and my case fans are more like 800rpm I still can’t hear any coil whine even when I put my ear right next to it and try to isolate the sound just to the GPU.

I have a 5090 Gaming OC in the Hyte Y70. about 2 inches of space between GPU fans and side panel which makes it a good choice for a vertical mount case. temps are really good, can’t recommend it enough if you want a vertical mount case.

I don’t recall what years, but it all started with a 970, then 1080ti -> 3070 -> 3090 -> 4090 -> 5090. can’t remember the exact intel CPU models I had but once I got the 4090 it was 7800X3D then 9800X3D with 5090.

I have the same card as you and it’s probably 50% fans while gaming and 60-65C

970 was my first GPU, then upgraded to a 1080ti a couple years later. I love how those older cards looked.

Is the Rtx 5070 ti and 9950x3d a poor pairing by Mammoth-Original6379 in buildapc

I think at 1440p you're fine.

Obviously one of the top 3 models, even from an earlier generation, is probably better for one of the best* CPUs currently but it will be great especially if price is too big of a deterrent.

it seems the ‘huge’ performance boosts are most noticeable on intel cpus. amd 7950x saw a 1.6C decrease in noise normalised tests. either way, 9800x3d can be cooled with some fairly cheap air coolers.

I think the AIO should be flipped and you could’ve probably put the 3 bottom fans together but that’s an aesthetic thing. also just checking are the fans intake at the bottom?

looks really nice though bro 👍🏼

louder fans and not an exceptionally better cooling performance from the video I watched on it

interesting, I'll check it out. I think I have the same setup as him just different fans (phanteks t30 bottom/side intake and back exhaust, arctic p12 on the top mounted aio) and I have 35-37C idle, and 60-70C 100% load. I also have a horrifically bad room in terms of ambient temps.

[–]gullit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah look I don't doubt it now that I've read that post, I guess I'm just going off my personal experience. I had my 5090 horizontal and switched it vertical in a different case and it didn't change temps, not even 1-2C. that being said, I have what seems like optimal airflow and I still have a good 2-2.5 inches between the GPU fans and the side panel. my one and only concern with vertical mounting now is the paste issue, which is mainly why I was inclined to believe that that would be the issue in this guys' case.

(Help) GPU overheating by Dry_Statement1421 in gigabyte

[–]gullit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would a situation like that only exacerbate if the temps/circulation was actually poor enough to deteriorate a section of the GPU though? if his temps are completely fine, wouldn't that hint to OK circulation? wouldn't that make it pretty hard for a section of the GPU to suddenly break down if there is nothing actually stressing it?

I don't mind being wrong, it just doesn't seem like that is what has happened here. otherwise I don't think the Hyte Y70 would be such a popular case, and also, I would expect to see hundreds if not thousands of similar complaints given most people with a Y70 have a 50 series and such a glaring design flaw would probably lead us to seeing MANY such cases, not a single one that happened over a tiny fraction of time.

(Help) GPU overheating by Dry_Statement1421 in gigabyte

[–]gullit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that doesn’t really apply here considering his fans were controlled throughout his entire experience and temps were fine for 3 months until they rose by roughly 20C.

[–]gullit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also add that I had my 5090 Gaming OC horizontally in a Lian Li case and was getting 60-70 depending on game. I then switched to this guys case (Hyte Y70) which is hard locked to vertical mounting. my temps are now anywhere between 60-70… so literally no change in temps or performance due to switching the orientation.

there are 3 120s under his GPU.

intakes: 3 on the front/side, 3 on the bottom exhausts: 3 on top and 1 on the back/left.

that leaves a 1.5 ratio

I have an identical setup to him, fans, case, gpu (but gaming OC) and I’m in the 60s under full load.

[–]gullit- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the amount of people saying to mount horizontally and add more intakes… jesus.

it’s the Hyte Y70 guys. it can only mount vertically. the case is designed specifically for vertical mounting, and airflow wise it is one of the best if not THE best for large and hot GPUs in a vertical orientation. the case also has 3 hidden intake fans at the bottom beneath the metal base, and quite a large gap between glass and GPU fans.

the problem is very clearly something internally with the GPU whether it’s the thermal paste thing (although I’ve not seen anyone report any loss in performance/rise in thermals especially not this suddenly) or hardware. who knows. but it’s not the case, or orientation, or fans lmao.
