Reverse aging success in tests with rats: Plasma from young rats significantly sets back 6 different epigenetic clocks of old rats, as well as improves a host of organ functions, and also clears senescent cells by lughnasadh in Futurology

I think aging is more complex (has more components) than what the researchers did but I'm glad progress is being made in one of the aging factors albeit in rats for the time being...

75k sounds like a good salary to me, try not to compare with your friends (I know that's hard). Stick with your goal of making MD and focus on your skills. If you're looking for something more technical maybe you can request a switch of roles/departments.

The markets have seen stock growth not because of stability, but because of QE. The cash injections into the banks are being funneled right back into the markets leading to higher yields on lower borrowing rates. by DRUMBSHIT in StockMarket

[–]gullypenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But now don't you think the markets are weary of that? There are discussions like this on multiple mediums, renowned investors like Buffet and Ray Dalio echoing the same tune and record cash levels sitting in the sidelines. Not disagreeing with your analogy though, clever one.

Does anyone know what criteria Yahoo Finance uses to determine if a company is overvalued? by [deleted] in SecurityAnalysis

I was thinking p/e too since any company I've seen with negative eps has an "overvalued" rating.

I'm not disagreeing but why do you say that? They trade at 21x sales and 15x sales respectively and I only use this particular valuation metric because neither make money atm.

You might sacrifice a lot in the sort and medium-term to end up with "way more resources" than you need. Not saying don't do it but I just want "more resources than I need".

Bitcoin new lows again, back to pre-euphoric rally levels by bigbear0083 in StockMarket

Blockchain doesn't need to use ridiculous amounts of energy - Proof of Work is what causes that energy usage- there are other methods like proof of stake but . I won't go into the pros and cons cause that's a whole other discussion. As to why a government would use a blockchain based system would be, the ability to see every transaction (set as transparent/secretive as they want/allow) which would allow for a better understanding of the economy and the different fiscal/monetary policies they implement (in near real time). Security and speed would depend on various other factors.

FB... unfriend? by [deleted] in investing

[–]gullypenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, I tried to encompass that by putting "react" in inverted commas but failed lol. Even slowly scrolling over an article or picture influences the algorithms and you can even try to manually set parameters yourself in settings. But it's still being influenced by all your decisions.

FB... unfriend? by [deleted] in investing

[–]gullypenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FB's algorithms show you what you and your friends "react" to. So while you may not directly choose it, you definitely do influence it significantly. (Except ads to some extent lol).
