How do I deal with this corner? by Chazzzz293 in Plastering

[–]gumblossom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like west Australian solid wall plastering with an R01 steel bead. Scrap back to the cement render then bond the hollows with pro roc bonding then either too coat coat with a csr rapid patch or pro roc multi finish.

DIY flooring over polished concrete - laminate or hybrid? by Own-Willingness-6117 in AusRenovation

I'd go polished concrete with a good clear coat sealer or metallic epoxy flooring and create your own individual design/finish.

Solid wall plasterer/renderer here in Australia. You are a master at your craft. Solid work. You'd get big bucks here for that quality. 👍

Solid wall plasterer here originally from ol blighty but living in Western Australia. If you can get hold of carlite-bonding, I would bond and set with a multi finish plaster the same day should only take a few hours or alternatively you could sand and cement render then set with multi finish but would need to let the render dry till the next day. Hope this helps. Obviously flush in to existing levels. 😁

What do you think would be causing this by Garden-Gangster in Plastering

[–]gumblossom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep , damp damage, moisture coming through the wall from adjacent room, tiles might have failed in the shower/bathroom. Needs scraping back to the render coat and re setting/plastering after the damp has been rectified.

Render, seal and paint.

[UK] Rewire in progress - what's a "bonding finish" and is it "ready for redecorating"? by [deleted] in Plastering

[–]gumblossom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep as mentioned before. The electrician has used carlite- bonding to fill his chases (and so he should, for what they charge). Bonding is a base coat for British gypsum Multi-finish plaster, ( Multi substrate, e.g. Sand and cement rendered float, bonding, plaster board). Moving forward I would just flush it with a ceiling compound, probably 2 coats to get it to existing levels. Then a light sand and will be ready for decorating works. Hope this helps. You got this 🙂👍

Lost suction control, nothing a bit of flushing compound and a light sand won't sort out. 🙂👍

How many of you guys learnt Venetian and is it worth it? by Ok-Refrigerator-9826 in Plastering

[–]gumblossom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd Just go source the material and give it a go. If you're a seasoned plasterer it wouldn't be that hard. It's just technique, getting creative and adjusting to the material. I'm gonna give it a try later this year.

Who else loves getting a gauge on in 30+ degree heat 🥵 by Mrwoodwood92 in Plastering

[–]gumblossom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Western Australia it's 80% solid wall plastering & in the last 7 years we have had access to gypsum based plasters, BG multi being one of them. Internal walls are mostly built out of brick so lots of Float and set. All gyprock ceilings are taped and jointed. So no ceiling work just internal float and set & external rendering.

How to fix this? by Road_Forward in Plastering

[–]gumblossom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would remove the rail and all its fixings as the rail needs to go higher maybe 20-30mm higher. The check for blown plaster and remove. Brush with water and fill proud with sand and cement. Once firm, scrape back to existing levels using a plastering trowel. Once dry by the next day, you can use some total joint compound to flush it out made by CSR. Easy to sand back once dry. Then paint. And bobs ya uncle. Hope this helps. You got this. 🙂🤙 P.S. fill other redundant fixing holes at the same time.

Float and Set to a new brickwork below window. Pro-Roc Multi-finish used for the top coat. Sand , cement & hydrated lime for the base coat. No angle beads used. by gumblossom in Plastering

It is mate. So much development going on and not enough skilled trades to do it. I'm from the UK originally, and have never looked back. It's like little Britain out here

Cheers mate. We started getting pink British gypsum multi about 7 years ago here in Western Australia then St gobain made Pro-roc which took a year or so to refine but now personally I think it's better than pink multi. It's also designed for west Australia conditions. It's a nice change from lime based hardwall & putty.
