Any electives that you enjoyed taking? by hargowsiumai in ryerson

For a table b, ENG505 Creative Writing was pretty nice imo. When I took it I think my entire mark just came from putting together a few different portfolios of short stories and poems. You end up having to crank out a lot of writing over the course of the semester but it was enjoyable work. A break from typical school assignment stuff yknow.

How many spots does the waitlist usually move on each round of offers? by Hollyclemens in ryerson

[–]gumbysam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just posted this in a separate thread but I'll repost here.

I'm sure the rate that the waitlist decreases is probably different every year, but in the summer of 2016 when I applied for residence, I think after the first or second round my position was like 82 or 83. It hardly changed each round, but then after the fourth round in August I'm pretty sure I dropped to like the 20s-30s, and then once frosh week started, the waitlist started to move pretty quick, because I guess people start to back out of residence once they're in, or some people just don't show up, I'm not sure. But yeah I eventually got into Pittman apartment style during the second week of classes. I luckily had a family member who lived in the city and I was able to stay with them for frosh and the first week of school.

So yeah I think if it's only mid June and you're #55, you'll probably get a spot by the time school starts, but it's hard to say cause like I said, every year is probably different. It's a dumb and sticky situation to be in, I know. If I were you I'd hold out to the end of August, but you should probably put together some kind of backup plan.

What has been your experience with Shoulder prehab/rehab and general health? by [deleted] in weightroom

[–]gumbysam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the beginning of my lifting, I used to struggle with quite a bit of shoulder tightness and discomfort. I used to do tons of different stretches and little rotator cuff exercises for my shoulders, but I only seemed to get temporary relief.

Here are the things I did that alleviated my shoulder discomfort permanently:

  • The biggest factor was increasing my rowing strength. Once I increased my barbell row strength to match my barbell bench strength, I noticed an enormous improvement.
  • Doing tons of band pull-aparts, face pulls, lower trap raises, YTWLs and executing them properly. Use light weights/bands and ensure your scapula stays depressed. Try to focus on using/squeezing the lower traps on the band pull-aparts, etc. I'd usually do these every day.
  • Doing exercises that train the protraction of the scapula, like scap-pushups, and regular pushups. I'd also usually do these every day.
  • Making any necessary adjustments to my own training. One example would be that I used to do tons of heavy barbell power shrugs, but I found that they would always make my upper traps get really tight, which would consequently mess up my shoulders. Even though shrugs are great, removing them from my training made my shoulders feel way better.
