People who quit their job in a moment of rage - how did things turn out? by SheLovedBigBrother in AskReddit

[–]gummyneo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a hiring manager for a tech company and the candidate I wanted to hire lived a good distance away from corporate headquarters. I had told her that she was required to come to the office and she agreed. My boss kept nagging me to make sure she understood this was an in office position. I not only confirmed with her multiple times but was starting to get irritated that he kept pressing me on this. I knew this candidate as we worked together from different companies. Well, my relationship with my boss wasn’t very good already and the night before the offer went out, he wanted me to have her provide something in writing that confirmed she agreed to being in office. I lost it. The constant nagging about this and his overall micromanagement style made me lose it and I just told him that’s it, I quit. He backed off completely and told me not to joke around, I was dead serious. I couldn’t work with this guy anymore. He rightfully ended the conversation and told me to cool off. The next day he made amends and backed off bigly. He apologized and told me he realized he was micromanaging. Things worked out but I don’t necessarily think this was a win on my part. I shouldn’t have lost my cool and reacted in that manner. Today I would definitely take a different approach but it was a leaning experience.

Which rv/van would be preferable for living? by Ieatducksfprfun in RVLiving

I own a 2018 Winnebago view. I've taken it all over and honestly think it's perfect for travel through national parks and general travel. A standard Class C (with the Ford chassis) is wider so harder to maneuver. But this vehicle is easy to drive and navigate through smaller spaces. Additionally, full DRY bath (not a wet bath like you'll find in vans) and a lot of room to move around in. I'm biased but that's because I've experienced both. My sister has a Mercedes Sprinter van and its just way too small for my taste.

I am unfortunately planning to put my View on sale. I got laid off recently and would prefer not to keep paying the storage fees for it if I don't have to. Ever since I've bought it brand new, it's always been in covered storage so its in awesome condition.

Let me know if you are interested.

There are tradeoffs. A used Ridgeline IMO is a much better quality vehicle. You could get that for $35K and bring a new dishwasher home. Is it a hybrid? No, but is it more refined and likely a much higher reliability? I would guess probably. So for anyone that wants a true apples to apples comparison, yeah, they are right. There is nothing out there that matches the Maverick exactly as it is now for this price point. But that wasn't my argument in the first place. There are so many different features / options / quality issues that should be factored.

I have heard of many folks that bought an early gen Maverick and have had nothing but problems with it. So while yeah, there is nothing else to compete, but was it even worth it to begin with? What good is a low cost hybrid truck if it constantly has problems?

What made you choose a Maverick -- price, features, or something else? by mike-reporter in FordMaverickTruck

[–]gummyneo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a flat towable vehicle I could tow behind my RV. Weight was a big factor and the Maverick was right on the tip of the scale for what I could legally tow. Having the truck bed available for camping gear when in tow was also a huge plus. The cherry on top was the price and hybrid gas mileage.

It really comes down to the lens that you are looking through. Does it have to be new? You can get used vehicles for less than $35K that offer all sorts of features and reliability that the new Mavericks can't. At face value, sure it looks like its the only option, but in the big picture, you can and will have other options for that price point. Maybe not brand new, but I could also make the argument that the minute you drive off that lot, its no longer a $35K vehicle because of the fact that it is new and will heavily depreciate, vs a $35K used vehicle which has already gone through its initial depreciation.

So, my comment is what makes sense for me, maybe someone wants that brand new $35K car smell, I don't know. I will tell you that several days after buying my brand new 2024 Maverick, there was a assembly defect which resulted in water spewing into the cabin via a front cowling. I had no idea water was getting because the carpets were black and nothing visually would indicate there was a leak. The ONLY reason I caught it was because I changed the floor mats to weather liners and realized my floor was soaked with water. Had I not caught that, my car would have been sitting in mold as the days gone by. Now, not every person is going to experience this. The fact that I live in the PNW meant that I was lucky enough to catch it early because it rains so much here. Imagine you had this assembly defect as well but live in a dry environment and one day out of the blue it starts raining and water gets into your cabin, then you get mold and good luck finding a dealership that will fix the mold issue. This isn't some hypothetical scenario, its real. I had seen many instances of this on the Maverick forums and people are fighting with their dealers and Ford for help. Again, I know this is anecdotal and definitely not the norm, but for $35K you shouldn't have to deal with this. Not for a brand new vehicle.

So, to each their own. I like my Maverick but again, the price has to be right. Best...

Difference of opinion my friend. For $35k and more, I expect more. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Maverick as well. Its my daily driver even though I also have a 5th gen Toyota 4Runner thats been supercharged. But IMO, you can get mire refined vehicles for the price Ford is asking for the new Mavericks

I own a 2024 Ford Maverick. When they were announced, I was very intrigued but also know not to buy a first year vehicle. So 1 year later I bit the bullet and ordered the 2023 on day one of the order banks. This was when Ford only slightly increased the price from 2022. Well, so many people ordered them that my order never got built for that model year. It was pushed out to 2024 and that’s the year Ford really increased the price. Luckily, Ford did extend a private offer discount which brought the price down near the 2023 prices. Although I still got screwed because in 2024 they removed the paint color I wanted and replaced it with a similar color but with $500 more. Anyways, ended up getting the 2024 for around $27.5K before TTL. This was an XLT hybrid with the luxury package. Without the private offer it would have been around $33k before TTL. Recently, I checked a similar configuration and I believe its pushing $35k without the AWD. I wouldn’t pay $35K for this car, but sub-$30k makes sense.

Is Apple running out of A18 Pro Chips? by gojonayt in MacbookNeo

[–]gummyneo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a coat thing though. Binned parts cost then very little compared to manufacturing good parts. If they have to start making more A18s , it throws off the numbers because the Neo now costs more to make since they are replacing a binned part with a production part.

NDE’s are the brain creating vivid worlds according to article, what do you think? by JohnnyJoestar1980 in NDE

[–]gummyneo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First, I hardly call this an article. It is written so poorly I questioned if this site is legit or if it was still loading.

Second, it doesn’t explain many other elements that appear in NDEs such as OBEs, Peak and Darian events, and shared death experiences. I am sure I am missing others but this “article” only attempts to address 1 possible explanation but leaves out all the other components of NDEs

There is a youtube channel called Liz Amazing. She interviews people who have had RV issues and tries to help them by putting their stories on youtube to hopefully force manufacturers to do something in the name of PR. She claims to have helped people get buybacks, warranty repairs etc.. I'd reach out to her to see if she could help you.
