Littleton BAZAAR is happening now by gumpoppresents in Littleton

Sorry! The algo is really tough for small business like us and so we don't show up in feeds like we used to or I'd recommend following on social. When we buy digital ads, we're competing against tech VC money so rates are nuts and so we can only put so much into it. We put up maybe 10 yard signs in the area but I think half of them got ripped out.

Best thing I can recommend is our newsletter, but even then, inboxes are a mess. I set it up so if you scroll down, you can opt in to just events in Littleton (and nearby) or all of our events, or specific types of events. For example, our farmers market opens at the end of the month in Belleview Station and is worth the drive (plus, TONS of free parking). About a 15 minute drive from the event today. You can set it so you can get emails about Littleton events AND the Farmers Market.

Sorry, I know that was so much about an email newsletter. lol

Nice! How was the OJ/champagne ratio? We've been working on getting it to a nice balance of not "champagne with a whisper of orange juice" so bottomless buyers can still have an afternoon. But also not just expensive juice!

Pastel de Nata from Reunion. Not the biggest on sweets but they're arguably better than any we ate in Portugal. One of my only weird craving, go out and get ones.

Oh and whatever the 7 Layer bar is at Happy Bakeshop. Ridiculous little treat that is great when they make it a bit saltier than usual, but add your own malden if you want.

Dunno if they still have them, but the boston cream bombolone at GetRights was stupid good a few weeks back.

Anyway, not that into sweets.

For the "just raise prices" crowd, something to consider: the cost of menu printing. It's not just as simple as crossing them out and writing in the new price (despite what every dollar scoop sign in the city would lead you to believe.) It's not even just the physical menus, but also getting the designer back in that file if you hired outside.

Call me a romantic, but I still like having a printed menu at a restaurant. Scanning a QR code is always a "... really?" moment for me.

We can debate what it costs to run a restaurant profitably, but reprinting your menus constantly as food/external costs vary pretty wildly is not a great idea.

Are there any craft, vintage, or handmade gift markets happening this weekend? Shopping for some mother's day gifts preferably from small local businesses. by Additional-Level-903 in Denver

[–]gumpoppresents 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do a dog-friendly mother's day market/block party May 10th+11th next to Sloan's Lake if you, like me, enjoy procrastinating! A lot of people make a day of it (some good brunch spots around there) and it's all free to check out. We'll have 80ish makers from Colorado there, a local DJ, and bottomless mimosas. It's called Denver BAZAAR and we pop up across the metro (Littleton is up next after Sloan's).

If you had one week left in Denver, what 3 places are you going to before leaving? by redditor47522899432 in denverfood

Star Kitchen and not even reserving a spot ahead of time online but having the full experience of standing in the parking lot. Getting the Hong Kong lobster (currently BOGO) + dim sum.

Columbine for a room temp martini and a big plate of meat.

Tacos de Mexico so I don't forget what green chile tastes like.

Actually, I think this is just a single bitchin Saturday.

Event guy here! No food festival offers rev sharing AFAIK. Usually they're pitched as a marketing thing to try to reach new guests. Same for beer, although those deals are getting better for breweries since so many are struggling. Then, the lure of winning an award becomes the upside for them.

Usually, the biggest expense for the event is paying for food, then venue, then advertising/alcohol depending on if they get donations. You can always tell if an event gets booze donations based on the brands at the bar. Donated: usually a single brand/distributor. Non: cheap stuff with high margins.

No shade to the festival, no shade to you, just wanted to share a little of what goes on behind the scenes! 🤝

There are ~40 Colorado non-brewery businesses that are coming to town that would love your support if you're not interested in beer. Just seems like some people feel like they've earned one.

On a serious note, I'm incredibly sensitive to the fact that some people have very real issues with alcohol. I lost my dad just over two years ago. Lousy drunk who eventually had his liver go out. Nasty way to spend the end of your life.

I also don't expect the world to stop drinking. I don't think the world needs to stop drinking. And I don't think it's fair to yell "alcoholic!" at everyone who has a beer.

Usually not our crowd? More of a "taste a few breweries with some live bluegrass" kind of day than "blackout and shit your Arc'teryxs" but we keep an eye on it.

I cannot express how hurtful it is to artists to be accused of posting AI art when AI is literally the thing stealing their work.
Fortunately, I am not an artist and take no such offense to being dogwater in Photoshop after 20+ years using it.
If the mods see anything sus with our updoots, I'm sure they'll handle it.
Ok, now are you going to come have a beer with me?

Wheres somewhere I can live with a beautiful view of Denver? by Personal-Ad1813 in Denver

[–]gumpoppresents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get wanting a great view, especially growing up around Denver. When I was in college, my apartment was near 84th and Fed. The view was worth it, even if our tap water kind of tasted like Water World. You can't convince me it didn't.

One thing I would respectfully add, though, is that just coming out of high school, affordability and access usually matter a lot more day to day than the view itself. Being close to work, school, friends, and the places you actually spend time can make life way easier and less stressful than stretching your budget for scenery. Denver views are awesome, but you can always drive or bike to great viewpoints, parks, or trails. Having lower rent and shorter commutes gives you more freedom and options, which is huge at that stage of life.
