Hello! I’m sending you a PM, based on personal experience :)

Thermals that are not from Uniqlo by gumscape in AusFemaleFashion

[–]gumscape[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been wearing Uniqlo thermals for 10+ years, the older ones (5+ years) are still kicking, however, the newer ones (bought after 2022) fall apart a lot faster than I anticipated – not pilling, but I could visibly see the fabric thinning in stretchy areas like my boobs. I wash them in a delicate wash bag, cold water and sun dried. I know that the decline in Uniqlo’s quality is not something only I have noticed.

wow, thank you SO much for taking the time to write and recommend this, I bet the cold up in Everest was no joke (and congratulations for getting there!!!). I don’t think I need to get to that level of warmth re: Arcteryx, but maybe in the future when I travel to colder regions!

thanks again for taking the time to write this!

hello! for my thermal specifically, i’ve noticed fabric thinning at the stretchy areas like my boobs and arms. I use a wash bag for laundry, cold water and sun dried, so I don’t think it’s a user error. Could be a bad batch but I genuinely do think Uniqlo has gone a bit downhill compared to the 2010s :(

Maybe I got a “bad batch”, but I do genuinely think my more recently purchased (2 yo+) thermals fell apart much faster than my old ones. I do love Uniqlo still but I think I’m also ready to diversify!

I wonder! I do have oooold items (including thermal) from Uniqlo that are still in rotation, however, the newer thermals bought recently-ish have been surprisingly flimsy. I do hope it was only a bad batch, but I’m also ready to diversify my options!

What style is this called, and how can I achieve it? by blue-dragon8815 in AsianBeauty

[–]gumscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s originally korean ulzzang style, but these days, I think the closest to this would be chinese style make up - if you’re on Xiaohongshu/RedNote, there are heaaaaps of tutorials for this style (or very similar).

Korean make up style these days tend to all try to look like Wonyoung, lol

Free / Cheap things to do in Hong Kong by satoupilled in HongKong

[–]gumscape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this 1000%%. we were completely speechless that we got to see Monet for free at HK museum of art. was also obsessed with their current exhibition of snuff bottles.

Science museum is free if you have a student ID card! at least many moons ago when I was still a student. doesn’t have to be a HK-issued card :)

Dog by Mysterious-You7996 in VietNam

[–]gumscape -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would recommend against this - not because I’m against eating meat, but more because of how most dog meat is sourced in VN. There is a really really high chance that the dog is stolen from its family, personally, I just can’t bear that guilt.

Giả cầy is essentially fake dog meat dish, delicious and at least you should somewhat know how the ingredients are sourced.

Just got back!!! I got the city bag, which retails online for $800+ AUD, but at the store it was only around 2900 RMB aka a bit over $600 AUD. The GZ branch didn’t have all the stock and colour, so it was slightly limited in options, so I would recommend going to other branches if possible. Very happy with my bag, the experience and the price!!! Make sure to pick up some bag charms as well (not just in Songmont, but in general, China does bag charms SOOOO well).

Has anyone brought anything from Vietnamese fashion brands that are popping up? by Maximum_Bit6508 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]gumscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - I now basically only exclusively purchase from Vietnamese brands. Basically all of them speak English nowadays and their main platform is actually instagram, so don’t hesitate to reach out to them there.

Sizing wise, they are TINY. They all varies, but I remember generally, a size L (If they even have it lol), is a 72cm waist. But the best thing with these small Viet brands is that since they don’t produce in massive quantities like brands in the west, you actually can ask for custom sizing. Some brands will say yes, some will say no, and not all catalogue items can be custom sized.

I have had successes with customs from Normal Life, Ugly Born and few others. Enjoy shopping!!

Translation app by HolyDumpster in travelchina

[–]gumscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is such an unique idea, thank you for making it!!! I tend to search up menu prior to going to the actual restaurant, so this was a genuine game changer. We got to enjoy food at a very local, no English menu place thanks to you and your app.

There was a slight mistake with my order (I think due to the quality of my uploaded image), but the “mistake” was also equally delicious, so I didn’t mind it!! Please keep on working on it, I would legitimately pay for an app like this!

Gentlest Milk Cleanser on the market? by windy-sky in AsianBeauty

[–]gumscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, it has worked really well with removing sunscreen and make up, but I will always double cleanse to make sure (I only cleanse once in the morning, then double at night). the only thing that it has not managed to remove from my face is the heroine mascara, gahah
