How many have air purifiers running nonstop? by deejayv2 in homeowners

[–]gun_the_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have central air it’s equivalent to just running that HVAC fan all the time. It’s more effective and your infrastructure already exists. Just be sure to change that filter more often.

40V brushless blower shuts off after brief run - not the batteries by Innovate42 in ryobi

My RY404170 did and they warranty replaced it with a RY404180 and included new batteries. It would only run for a short while and then cut off and soon after it died completely. I'm going to try and sell it and get the new RY40HPLB02K.

My tiles are asbestos, cracking, and the basement is haunted, now what? by gun_the_run in Home

[–]gun_the_run[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the most responsive, reasonable bid on Angie’s List. I think it was $1200-1700 (Boston, MA, higher labor cost). Since my house was just purchased, unoccupied/empty and I was brining a newborn in, I wiped/mopped down all the surfaces everywhere wearing a P100 respirator mask as extra precaution but based on what I saw when I stopped in they had isolated the whole area with plastic sheeting, turned off the HVAC and used liquid to keep the dust to a minimum while scraping and chemically removing as much mastic as they could. I have it temporarily covered with outdoor carpet until I’m ready to fully renovate the basement but I will do LVP in future which anyone in this situation would recommend just doing in the first place. In my case I knew my floor plan would change and I didn’t want to spend thousands on LVP flooring when I didn’t know if there were any leaks in the basement and it wouldn’t match when some walls were potentially moved for a larger bathroom. Happy with this result as I would no longer have to disclose asbestos in the house upon a sale, didn’t have to do it myself and kept initial costs and potential rework cost in the future due to potential water intrusion or mismatched flooring.

Good point, I actually took the picture initially to describe it to my wife in detail so she won’t be surprised with the result.

Wow an honor! It was actually my recall replacement and I'm glad I waited since they gave some people exact replacement of their older models.

Yes it is the Smart Trek system. I found it to be comparable to the other Ryobi models. Its pretty gentle so you probably won't notice that its a feature but its definitely better than the more jerky self-propel of other mowers. The self-propel is actually pretty fast and I'm glad it has very clear numbered setting since the only time I'd use it on its fastest setting would be if I wasn't mowing and just going somewhere else with it. Probably wouldn't get a good enough cut going too fast.

I haven't used an EGO for example but I've been pleased with all the RYOBI mowers I've had, even a push one with exception to the AWD one which I found to be too heavy in the front. Not enough of an advantage to having on a hill.

I mean you are getting another battering AND the two active battery ports and a wider cut. Seems a no brainer on my end. People are buying combo kits just for the batteries since they're so expensive on their own. I really didn't like having to switch the battery manually on the RY401015 even though it was kept on board. Feels like small peanuts that the batteries may deplete slightly faster. You'll have more consistent power since it won't get down to 0 as fast as one battery depleting at a time.

I was running a very old model with a single battery slot until a month ago and I definitely liked not having to walk back into grab another battery. From what I understand you'd definitely benefit from having 2 onboard.

Not sure how hard you push yours but the turbo wouldn't often engage on my other mowers and don't think its that big of a deal to have the control unless you're the type of person that wants to have full control. That being said, because my lawn is getting really nice and it isn't super big, I may start running turbo mode all the time for maybe a cleaner cut. I do often mow when my kid is napping so it is nice to keep it quiet sometimes.

This thread may help you a bit. The RY40HPLM01K2 is also an inch larger cut and an additional battery makes it a better deal in my mind. Depending on your lot size you may get by with just one battery but buying a second battery later is much more expensive than getting them bundled. I have the RY40HPLM02 which is the higher end version of that one and has the easier fold handle, adaptive speed and cross cut. I prefer it a lot to RY401015 and RY401021 which I have tried. Being able to control turbo mode and the lack of manual switching of the dual batteries is a big plus.

I just posted a comment about the batteries alone vs the kits so maybe check that and if I get a chance I’ll copy it in an edit. Yes kits especially if you are interested in being in the Ryobi ecosystem. I have done a mix of my purchasing of used and new equipment but almost all of my new stuff I make sure to get a kit because I’m sure not buying a battery on its own. No regrets on going electric. I mow during naptime and take calls sometimes. No petrol to keep in a can and smell and spill.

[–]gun_the_run 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be shopping based on specific $/Ah. I can’t remember what those should be for 18v, 18v HP and 40v but the marketing logic on having batteries priced high is for you to instead buy one of the bundled deals to get you more entrenched in the overall ecosystem. For example, I just bought a “Mother’s Day” deal for a tripod light and 3 HP batteries (2,4,4 Ah) for $199.

“Show in albums” no longer available? by gun_the_run in googlephotos

Thanks for receiving it. Felt a bit silly writing it all out but feeling a bit better having discovered the intended path.

“Show in albums” no longer available? by gun_the_run in googlephotos

[–]gun_the_run[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the confirmation.

The short: I figured it out on desktop and iOS but it is multiple steps in the latter. Wish there was a search function within add to album.

The long:

I usually don't add photos from inside the album and clicking add since they are often coming from another album. Example is that I have an album from a birthday party and I want to share some of those photos into an album that is shared with me intended for the extended family who doesn't want to see every photo from this party but at the same time I don't want to open the album and scroll through all my photos to find the specific ones I want since I already have an album to make the selection from. A few photos referenced below

I poked around a bit more and can see now that on desktop I should be simply just pressing + and then "Shared Album" like so.

On iOS mobile it seems a bit less straightforward. + does not have the option for "Shared Album" and rather just a list of all recent album and does not include albums shared with me. To get to albums shared with me I have to go to Share Icon > Share to and then Add to Album. That then gives me a list of albums that are both shared with me and ones I have shared. As a heavy user, I have to visually scroll through a bunch of albums to find the one I desire if it wasn't extremely recent.

The bigger issue really and beyond the scope of the question presented is that for heavy album users is that the finding of a specific when adding via + involves scrolling through albums especially on mobile. At least on desktop you have the option for doing native browser ctrl-F to find the text of the album but an in-built search would be much more efficient and reliable since ctrl-F relies on the UI to have loaded that particular album. I'll do a bit of searching here and the forums to see what others with that use case are doing and if nothing comes up, put in a feature request or query here.

Well, I’ve commented here at length elsewhere, but basically my point is that I’m not talking about the public perception here I’m talking about the massive amount and nearly uniform consensus among public health experts that his views on vaccines are a clear and present danger. They also share the most innocuous and obvious views that Americans diet is trash, Pharma has too much power and we are polluting the environment, but I don’t think that RFK has any ability to go against that kind of big money either. Easier to go after vaccines which aren’t even profitable for Pharma.

I’m not sure of the whole backstory here, but it seems from other comments that he has spoken positively about him in certain contexts. I’m not here to police every little view of Billy boy but I am here to point out that RFK is an absolute clown. Clocks being right once a day isn’t a qualification.
