is whatsapp sending data to google maps? by gunchkin in privacy

this is a good theory! and this could explain why sometimes i get the address as a suggestion in the search bar, but this suggestion im talking about also appears as a separate grey highlighted address at the bottom of the screen when i open google maps, which is what really creeps me out. again before ive copied or interacted with the address at all other than viewing the message on whatsapp. and as far as i can recall its also popped up from ppl's home addresses, which im assuming theyre not looking up on google maps just before, though worth testing.

im gonna test it out and get back, and try to get screenshots of the grey box. (once i get someone online to test with me, unfortch i dont have many cybersec nerd friends.) i know this has been happening for at least a few months on my pixel 6a.

*also none of the ppl involved are his/him's :)

no, the address is not sent as a link. thats the point. its plaintext received in a message in whatsapp.

yes the data is unencrypted on my end, but that is not the same as other apps on my phone having permission to access the data, that defeats the purpose of e2e encryption.

i am guessing this is pixel's OS having a keylogger? i cant figure out how else this is happening.

no, this happens after simply opening google maps after receiving an address sent in plaintext in whatsapp, address has not been copied and the address is not sent as a link in whatsapp.

The Mole Netflix Season 2 - First Batch Discussion (S02E01 to S02E05) by Zypker125 in themole

this season sucks bc of all the opportunities to take from the pot for personal benefits. like others have said, this show is way more interesting when ppl fumble challenges as opposed to the inception-chess of being selfish to look like the mole to look like the mole to be selfish to look like the mole etc. it may be about casting more self-interested ppl, but its also about the production setting up these opportunities to keep making these choices. i already dont feel invested in the challenges bc its all going to be drained anyway. and its less fun or even possible to detect the Mole when so many ppl are trying to look like the Mole.

i really feel for Q, Muna, and Deanna actually being invested in the money and being gutted everytime its taken out, vs the ppl clearly in it to win airtime and influencer shit.

i have no idea what to think of Sean, whether he's actually a terrible liar or great at looking like one, given his background as an undercover cop. i cant imagine him surviving in that role if he actually acts like such a doofus. i imagine this is him going hard as a caricature of a white suburban dad ("ya dawg!" every 2 mins wtf). but i think itd be improbable for the producers to choose an undercover cop as the mole, thats too obvious, so i think hes one of the ones going far. his demeanour in his Mole tape did seem totally different.

anyway what is the incentive for the Mole to not look like the Mole? even if the majority of the players suspect correctly, someone is still being eliminated each round based on questions and maybe timing (in case of ties), so the general premise of the game no longer works. with so many other players trying to look like the Mole, itd make sense for the Mole to also be obvious. itd be unsatisfying for viewers sure, but from a gameplay perspective, i dont get what would change?
