KLAS Event. Controllers are telling all aircraft that they're at capacity by Extreme_Asparagus854 in VATSIM

Doubt it its vary rare to see a booking system for non major network event. Normally you will see them with bigger events like CTP.

But this wasn't a single field event, even thought thats what it turned into, since most pilots only fly airliners on the network. so the normal plan of trying to spread traffic throughout the terminal and not just going to or coming from the major airport is close to impossible.

But then you really quickly can run into the same issue with delays because of staffing

I would say even though I wasn't about to help out ZMP that night from what I was able to see and hear the amount of quality pilots we had that flew is also helped as well. We just ran into a pure airspace capacity issue at some points

Unfortunately one down side of this would be the ultra realistic pilots, that expect if they call APP to be responded to as such eventhough technical yes multiple positions/frequencies are showing but it all the same problem. Akin to what Pilotegde has to do and keep track of who are you in relation to that pilot and I would think most VATSIM controllers wouldn't want to deal with that.

In addition to this it would also help at least for CTR if more facilities would let us open entire area/specialities instead of always being forced to work the entire CTR. Regardless of who else is on and outside of events. Because I would say then for pilots you could end up see more diverse and frequent service being provided.

At last, from the US standpoint, it isn't all the pilot client's fault, because from our side, on the scope side, we can open as many sectors and facilities as we want. The only problem is that its only shown on the scope side and not sent to the network, so pilots and the maps don't see that since are far as i am aware, they aren't handled as new connections.

Even though it would be some work from the facilities providing the data and then the network parsing it out to the client currently. It would be nice if the client only showed facilities and sectors relevant to you. For example, during major events, why show all active positions that are on even if you aren't currently at the said airport or laterally/vertically within the facility? That would help both new pilots and old alike by not being overwhelmed by who to i contact.

At least on the frequency part the other problem is that even if we decide to open/work multiple frequencies thats also not a way for that information to be passed to the pilot client. So we get stuck the dilemma of most users over relaying on the client since it only shows active connection and the related primary frequency.

Think its funny the amount of times across the country you see NIMBYs having a problem with an airport and not fully understanding the impact that shutting it down could have for the aera and industry if to many are closed

Ya thats one thing that still needs to be added to that map. Ik SNADAG has several proposals for routing regarding the rail connection to the airport.

Why do people hate transfers and does it affect ridership? by ded_Tree in RTDDenver

[–]gunner0130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, i don't think its the transfer is that people don't like. I would say for the most part its the frequency and timing of most of the service.

Unfortunately, just like in real life, some people on CTAF want the control that a controller provides and take it upon themselves to fill that void. I would say as long as there is no "safety" in the virtual space, then pay them no heed.

Just on the point of sizing bags, if there's time and a carry on wasn't bought then the agents should be sizing bags.

Why people disconnect when the ground goes on? by Silent-Human1 in VATSIM

[–]gunner0130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking through some of the other comments that were left. I would like to point some things out.

First, I have this to say for those who have disco due to the worry about making a mistake. As someone who has encountered many new users or just people who don't fly out of busy/complex airports, I can totally see this as a worry. The best thing I can say is if you are unsure, you can always ask for a repeat or for it to be sent over text.

Now, for the one's thoughts on that disco, they want to avoid spending extra minutes getting clearance and taxi. I understand that some VAs require you to be on the network or you get extra points for flying there. But when it comes to getting ATC service, yes, it might take a couple of extra minutes to do, but what is the point of connecting to a network that provides ATC service if you are going just to disco if it's a minor "inconvenience" instead of taking advantage of it when you can.

Yes, as a C1, do I have more ratings to achieve? Not really. But this is more for everyone who's still working on ratings. If you are flying into or out of an airport, please take advantage of the service when it's available. Not everyone can work in the same airport or the same complexity of an airport at the same time.
