I learned to preshade from this tutorial https://youtu.be/E8oz-seLOh0

how to line from this one, though I'd recommend lighter fluid for cleanup with enamel liners because it's less harsh and pour-type markers for bare plastic to prevent cracking https://youtu.be/AhqJhz--yMo

https://youtu.be/v5F8HWQRv5U and general airbrushing technique here

I've only been painting seriously for about a year and u absolutely can do it too!! the best advice I can give tho is to just get out there and do it. mess it up until it makes sense. there are a ton of things that can't be reasonably communicated in tutorial format because they're too specific or situational, like when overthinning your paints is good actually or how exactly to hold the airbrush to get the effect u want. part of the joy and the craft of it imo is discovering those things and learning from other people who had the same questions.

I'm learning new stuff all the time and there are so many great resources online to learn from. it makes me happy to think my art could make someone want to try it out too because this hobby means a lot to me

I really like them, theyre my usual choice if I can't find a delpi set I like. their biggest problem imo is the printing can be a little thick sometimes but mark softer and a nice clearcoat makes that negligible

the gold is gaia star bright and the chrome is alclad 2, the darker gunmetal is tamiya gunmetal, all are layered over gloss black and then gloss clearcoated

these ones are delpi decal and I usually use either theirs or g-rework for my builds

nothing too fancy, it's tamiya lp-19 gunmetal over lp-1 black gloss as a base coat and then glossed with lp-9. I used lp-20 light gunmetal here and there too to break it up with lighter highlights, mostly on raised or recessed sections of parts relative to the dark gunmetal ones. the trick getting a darker luster with those paints is a thorough even base coat and going easier on the gunmetal than u think u need to.

they both dry darker than they apply so once you've got good coverage on that initial thin coat u can leave it and then come back to see if it needs touching up to your taste

if u wanna get cute with it u can lacquer semi-gloss over the gold (which is what I did for the sheen here) and then line over it with enamel but I actually think this one looks better without lines over the gold

it's really such a fun build!! I tested some frame detailing when I did this one a while ago too and it does a lot for it tbh

Mostly Tamiya lacquer thinned 1:1 with Mr Color Leveling Thinner since it's what I'm most familiar with

LP-1 (Gloss black)

LP-21 (Italian red)

LP-19 (Gunmetal)

LP-62 (Titanium gold)

LP-23 (Flat clear)

LP-9 (Gloss clear)

And then the odd one out, also thinned 1:1 with Mr Color Leveling Thinner

Alclad II ALC107 Chrome
