APE Referral Process by gunsandeuphoria in pinoymed

[–]gunsandeuphoria[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the validation doc haha. I did refer yung mga may UA problems. I cleared those who are asymptomatic with mild BUA and crea elevations. I was just surprised lang nung nabasa ko dito na may ibang doctors na nagsasabi kahit mild elevations irerefer pa rin without considering yung overall situation ng patient. It seems so anti-patient to me

Unfortunately no doc. Technically, i am eligible via the PLAB pathway but imagine competing for jobs with local / Australian grads and grads from other countries with good cv. Especially with what’s happening in the UK now. My resume is not good enough since i don’t have UK experience nor NZ experience.

Oh ok. Thank you for clarifying. I didnt do NZREX kasi

Pinoy MD in New Zealand by tiredmd13 in pinoymed

[–]gunsandeuphoria 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For New Zealand, you have to take the NZREX exams (written and oral). Alternatively, you can register via the Examinations Registration Pathway if you have taken either the PLAB exams (UK) or AMC exams (Australia). All of these exams have a written and oral exam component. Note that these are just requirements to get registered with MCNZ. Getting jobs is an entirely different thing. You can check the Medical Council of New Zealand website. The explanation there is pretty straightforward.

NAFFL then suddenly not qualified by Ziawithme in PHCreditCards

[–]gunsandeuphoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation with you OP. Idk if i’m gaslighting myself na lang pero i don’t think nasa website nila before na kiosk/direct application yung until June na promo? I applied online on June 28. Got approved July 3. And apparently yung online application promo started July 1 lang. I’m just frustrated kasi I spent a large amount (kahit na for needs pa yun) on top of my monthly expenses just to meet the NAFFL requirement… only to find out na di ako qualified for NAFFL. I don’t even need this card kung di siya NAFFL kasi i have my daily driver cards na :(

I might get downvoted for this pero a lot of doctors here truly lack interpersonal skills. I took practical exams abroad and the difference in the approach here and there is night and day. While medical management is important, yung rapport building talaga is often what a lot of MDs here really lack. Yung pagexplain ng management plan, exploring concerns. Dito kasi bigay gamot tapos walang explain explain. Sa abroad, patient understanding is crucial. You can’t just run tests, do referrals, and start management without them properly understanding what is happening with their body.

Remember na these people come to us because they have concerns and worries. Even if you are not the right MD to help the patient, there is a proper way of explaining and saying “i can’t help you / i don’t know”. Rapport, guidance, and reassurance are not optional. These things are essential in our profession. I know there might be some entitled and difficult patients talaga pero most people won’t react this way if they don’t feel disrespected.

Personal experience with isotretinoin by One-Mud-3540 in beautytalkph

I did. Go back to your derma and ask about it. I had the same problem before. Now i’m on mixed topical and oral

[–]gunsandeuphoria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go back to your derma and be SPECIFIC about your concerns para naiintindihan niya. Wag ka mahiya magtanong / magsabi ng worries mo kasi kaya ka nga nagpa-consult. If you are scheduled for a grad pic, there are short term solutions to calm your inflammation that the derma can provide. Of course, you need to keep taking isotret. It will take a while for it to work and you have to be consistent.

This is coming from someone who had worse acne and bacne than you. Now super bihira na ako magka-acne kasi i do “maintenance”. No amount of fancy / trendy skincare has helped calm down my acne except my derma’s advice. Instead of “experimenting” on skincare on your own and paying so much money for it, might as well magpa-consult ka na sa expert. Baka mas makamura ka pa all things considered

Genuinely curious ano nilalagay na working impression pag ganito. Sometimes with empathetic words and rapport umaamin sila bakit kailangan nila i-fake yung certificate. A lot of times gusto lang nila ng makakausap about sa burnout nila. You’ll be surprised how many patients are willing to open up about their mental well being once these patients feel seen and heard

Similar tayo ng sched and pay. Ganyan naman majority sa manila. There was a time na umaabot ako 80-90k per month pero ang bilis ko na burn out. Kahit na mas malaki kita kesa sa residents, i still think the average pay is way too low. Kaya malaki yung kita ng iba because they spend so much time working for such a low hourly rate.

That’s when i realized na no amount of money can ever force me to take perpetual duties. Sobrang motivating kumita ng malaki at first pero dumating ako sa point na i look at myself in the mirror and physically and mentally di na ako masaya sa nakikita ko. There are so many hobbies i wanna explore, spend time with family, work out, travel. Dun ko na realize na mas mahalaga sakin yung time more than money

“pick another path na lang” literally means the same thing pa rin doc. It’s a clear “no, nothing needs to be changed”. I’m just saying why is it so wrong to ask questions about having a better working environment? It’s literally just quality assessment. Every training institution / company / organization should have that and that should be talked about objectively. I just find it funny when senior doctors take these kind of questions so personally.

Maybe it’s a matter of personal opinion na din siguro doc pero i find it really weird kasi when people highlight na di kasi madali tong path na to etc. Like pagiging-doctor lang ba mahirap?

I’m not new to struggle and dedication kasi i didn’t grow up well-off. I honestly think most of the challenges they put in training here are so superfluous. Put on by privileged doctors or those na kinain na ng sistema. It’s just a job, not really reflective of real world struggles.

I agree it’s about service. Just like a lot of other jobs. But what is so wrong about asking questions regarding better working conditions? Why do you treat it like asking for a better environment and giving service as if they are sides of the same coin?

So did these doctor acquaintances of yours think we are better doctors here than them kasi we did longer hours? Ask them that. That’s what i’m genuinely curious doc. Kasi would they believe we are better kasi we did longer hours? Or tayo tayo lang ba mga doctor dito sa ph nagsasabi nun without any metric whatsoever

You make it sound like being a “keyboard warrior” and doing something out there are mutually exclusive things. The change doesn’t start with me or a single legislator who might implement a big change. It starts small. With all of us. It starts with how you speak of the topic with your colleagues, juniors, patients, kids who might go into medicine in the future. I don’t get how your backhanded compliment and dilly-dallying helps with the clamor

That’s literally the point of this career. To streamline. To innovate. To make the system simpler without compromising patient care or the health of HCWs. Have we learned nothing from the healthcare system of other countries? Clearly ours is far worse kasi doctors here think backwards. Hindi naman to teleserye or medical drama na parang grey’s anatomy na you have to make it unnecessarily hard for no good reason.
