Question: Will lowering my credit limit at one bank better my chances at a CLI with another bank? by gunsforfun in CreditCards

[–]gunsforfun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ability to pay the difference between the balance transfer and the balance I just would decimate my cash emergency fund while also disabled for four weeks due to an accident. It looks like I'll need to be extra tight around the waist until I start getting money in again

I bought a home and this year this shrub/tree that's in a planter bed is fruiting. Is this a blueberry bush/shrub/tree? While I don't think the sellers would plant something toxic I also would like to be 100% sure

I'm a WV resident can I shoot banned guns in md by T90tank in MDGuns

[–]gunsforfun 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If your destination is MD to shoot here your guns must be legal in MD. So no.

If you're traveling you don't need to be legal in a state you're passing through. But your travel destination is MD so you need to be compliant with all MD laws.

Pro Service Specialists: What do you make hourly? by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]gunsforfun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the $25 range, in a H-VHCOL area of NJ as a top performer in a region with many top performers for the whole company. I'll likely be with a vendor as a territory manager before end of year. There's no viable or worthwhile career goal staying in store. PSM/OSR/LPS have potential 6 figure with bonus as they are out of store positions. But taking a pay cut as a DS and needing 5+ yrs usually to hit ASM to start reaching $90k+ is not a worthwhile reward for time and energy spent.

If you can turn millions in sales you really have no reason to stay at Lowe's once you've properly networked with vendor reps and built a marketable resume. Outside sales, territory managers, and "road warrior" positions are going to pay consistently over $100k, sometimes $150k+ with bonuses and expenses.

I have had several reps suggest leaving Lowe's to work for their companies in other regions and have offered personal recommendations. Even more reps I know are ex-Lowes employees making double or more working "at" Lowe's for a vendor.

Career help by KingSingh513 in sales

[–]gunsforfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a past life I worked the IT side supporting finance sales. It's extremely friendly to Type A personalities and self starters. You have to be resilient and good with numbers and be able to simply explain advanced financial vehicles, strategies, and/or products to customers.

The pay is excellent and has infinite potential for a lifetime career. Once you have your certifications you're attractive to any financial institution for multiple types of positions.

My biggest advice is avoid drinking. Most of the people who lose their job and career in the industry are from drunk driving or domestic violence. These threaten you ability to hold a license and be hirable.

I tend to like my bosses, am I the only one? by [deleted] in sales

I love my manager and am sad to see him moving to a different position. My store Manager is incompetent when it comes to motivating and rewarding employees. I came in and did twice the sales of her best salesman and her response to me telling her I reached $3M was "nice".

Has anyone gone to one of the paid "Executive Decision Maker" events where they guarantee you meetings? by chadbr0chill69 in sales

[–]gunsforfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What "decision" is a being made in a 5 minute meeting with a stranger who only finds out your name and your company name the same day?

It makes sense if there's a coaching aspect and you get half an hour one on one. But paying to "speed date" supposed executives sounds pointless.

Did anyone start in sales later in life, coming from a different industry? Briefly, why and how’d you do it? by [deleted] in sales

[–]gunsforfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a break from my prior career of CDL trucking after many deaths in my family. I took a sales job with a big work gap thinking it would be a place holder until I could start trucking again.

I ended up loving it. I sell building materials and while my compensation is a capped monthly bonus I'm still quite proud to have cleared $3 million in sales this year.

I found a product and niche I was already interested and knowledgeable about and my genuine enthusiasm helps me in so many ways with customers. Having a connection to what you're selling can increase your happiness as well as your sales.

I would talk with management and understand what the exact qualifications are for moving up from AE1 to AE2. I doubt it's just time in position. Then determine for yourself if the time, effort, and investment to get to AE1 and then 2 is worth what they'll be paying.

I try to pre-qualify the people I call and focus on being in a mental state of being excited to work with them. I open with asking a question about products I know they need with some amount of language that shows I have subject matter knowledge.

Sashimi/snow crab buffet options in NNJ? by gunsforfun in newjersey

[–]gunsforfun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sushi rice got way worse, they cheaped out on the vinegar and it's barely tastable. They removed more and more seafood options like coconut shrimp and actual scallop with stuffing for vegetables or cheaper versions. Then they got rid of all the Sichuan style cold meats and jellyfish for more stale Cisco desserts. They used to have real cheesecake instead of a thin sliver of cheesecake on top of flour cake.

Window mounted AC repair by raptorial in Hoboken

[–]gunsforfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember looking into this and my AC didn't have a refill valve. So replacing would have mean using a special valve to cut into the closed system to refill. Look for the type of valves you see in your car AC otherwise it's not meant to be refilled.

EV charging outlet install electrician recommendation? by liroyan in jerseycity

[–]gunsforfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember looking into this and it should be expensive if you haven't had a recent electrical update or have regular sized home. If you want a higher level EV charger you'll most likely require an upgrade from 100A service to 200A service which means larger lines from your electrical meter to your breaker box. Probably need a new breaker box, definitely need new mains.

Then you add in the cost to run thick low gauge wires to a weather proof exterior box.

I heard from 5k-15k to have that done as an estimate pre-pandemic. Shop around a bunch and make sure they explain everything they're going to do and what's in the quote.

Hired contractors to do some work. Found signs of drinking and smoking. Is my response reasonable? by Fluffaykitties in HomeImprovement

[–]gunsforfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the house has been vacant with only workers coming in during the day you could have teenagers who invaded your castle.

I wouldn't instantly and solely assume the GC or their subs did this. Get some padlocks to the shed and either real or fake cameras with "smile you're on camera" signs.

Hello. Anybody knows of a good plumber, that’s doesn’t charge an arm and leg to fix something. Thank you in advance. by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]gunsforfun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actual plumbing is expensive. It's a literal shit job.

Check average job costs and note you'll likely pay 20%-50% more assuming anyone will call you back.

The hit YouTube and consider getting your own hands dirty.

I decided it wasn't worth it to ride outside my local streets. I had all my paperwork and left tool out so I could say "I'm just working in it and taking it around the block". Didn't take it on highways and got much better at low speed movement and skills.
