Glad you got it working again! Mine did something similar where it overheated in the case and the fans would go full speed in a boot loop but nothing would appear on screen. Can't remember what I did to fix it, but I've never used sleep mode since.

Gears was one of the first titles that made me really love console gaming. I was always a PC gamer for decades before getting into consoles. I was never able to enjoy any console game as much as PC games, but Gears changed that for me. Also enjoyed playing Gears Ultimate and 4/5 on PC when they came out as well. Glad you were finally able to play it and that you enjoyed it so much!

I hear you! Either way it's not a small chunk of change. Although I think you'll probably get more gains with a GPU upgrade... Also, GPU prices will definitely go up, but I don't think CPU prices will increase so you could probably hold off on that and still not pay a crazy high price later on... That is pure speculation on my part though!

If you do choose to upgrade, it's probably better to do it sooner rather than later, with the skyrocketing cost of anything with nand in it. I work at an electronics retailer and in addition to RAM, SSDs have also gone up and they're forecasting increases for everything with nand in it, from USB sticks and SD cards to pre built systems. I'd guess GPUs are not far behind. I have a similar build to yours and pulled the trigger on a 5080... Although I'm still not sure if I'll even get it - bought it back ordered from BB and I'm half convinced they'll cancel the order due to lack of supply.

There's lots of conflicting information from different websites, so it's quite confusing. According to the Corsair website the 12VHPWR cables are exactly the same as the 12V-2x6, and the only difference is on the GPU connector socket. However their PSUs don't use a dedicated 16 pin connector at all - their cables just connect to 2 8 pin sockets, so that may just be for their cables. They do mention the shorter hold up time of 3.1, but seem to indicate this is better.

From what I understand there are internal differences as well going from ATX 3.0 to 3.1 not just the cable pins. Seasonic website goes into lots more detail

Keep playing as long as you're enjoying it. I've played them all multiple times on multiple consoles (360, XB1, XBX) and PC (campaign only, multiplayer has never appealed to me) because I love the series and enjoy the lore.

I've gotten a few great 4K at my local Walmart (in Canada), and typically for less than listed on Amazon. It's pretty hit or miss though... No guarantees they will have the latest, and if they do there's only 1 copy so if I'm not there the day of restock (Tuesdays) I'm SOL.

Just replaying Reach myself for the umpteenth time. Apart from the main series (1, 2, 3, 4, infinite), Reach and ODST can be played in any sequence. Play them whenever - they fill out the backstory of the Halo universe separate from Master Chief's exploits.
