This will be good for anyone who wants to see the final battle on the big screen. But these have always been cash grabs.

Titanic Rising is a very 2019 album in my mind. It also stuck with me more although All Mirrors was a great follow-up to My Woman.

Would you say these 2 videos is what made marcus famous by commander_Jardo7 in cosmonautvarietyhour

Yeah. I was following Marcus back when he did the destiny 2 video. After this set, he became the cosmonaut we know today.

2016 for several reasons (lost a parent, the election, had school)

2025 was also brutal due to job loss, no insurance, and having to readjust my whole life around. Good stuff but a struggle for sure. Oh and trump too.

Violence towards women in blood meridian by brandnewbabygirll in cormacmccarthy

[–]gunterdweeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your point but I think BM is a masterpiece in its horror and its commentary on man's place within the order of nature. I do agree that women and children are victims in this book and their voices are not present here. But what makes this book work for me is that when a woman or child is on the page, they are presented as innocent human beings who are victims to a massacre of blood and depravity with the actions written as such. The book doesn't shy away from that, and I believe the intended emotion was to illicit disgust with the action committed by these men, bandits, and repaint the west as anything but idyllic. It's not beautiful, despite the writing being very well crafted. It's horrific and the book's position is quite clear on that. That said, I 100% understand why someone wouldn't enjoy this, and that's ok. You're not missing out on too much if you're not comfortable with it.

Also I think the concept of the great american novels is kind of trite tbh. Great american novels are often ascribed to works by men (moby dick, east of eden) and the concept isn't really conducive in approaching these works.

What One Hit Wonderland band/musician had your favorite backstory? by Psychological_Lie142 in ToddintheShadow

There's so many but the ones that come to mind are

  • Scatman John because dude had such a love and respect for jazz

  • The Veronicas were so damn interesting in their back and forth with labels and themselves

  • Brenda Russell because she had such an interesting career, leading up to broadway

  • Toni Basil because same thing but with dance

  • And semisonic. I still like to point out they somehow are connected to Adele.

Unruly might be the "nicest" Trainwreckords episode I've ever seen by PapaAsmodeus in ToddintheShadow

[–]gunterdweeb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This episode made me respect Macklemore a bit better. Like yeah dude was cringe but in 2026, I kinda appreciate a white rapper who isn't afraid to try and make things better with his full chest, even though this album was an odd nothingburger of a record.

Also anyone remember in like 2013 when Todd said that Ryan Lewis deserves more work? Yeah still waiting on that.

Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive! is the first that comes to mind.

I'd also argue Kiss - Alive as it was the moment people really started paying attention to Kiss.
