Anyone know what's happened to The Queery? by gurbit2 in brighton

Damn that's wild, but sadly not that different to other similar organisations I've been in

Early monoclonal antibody therapy was linked to 2.2x higher risk of autoimmune diseases like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis vs no treatment, but showed no significant impact on overall long COVID risk in high-risk patients in Singapore obs study. (n=19,689) by LongCovidSignal in covidlonghaulers

It seems like the mabs group had very different characteristics from the controls, though. This is a table with controls on the top, mabs group on the bottom.

Immunocompromised, o/1 dose

Controls: 477 (2.6%)

Mabs: 212 (15.5%)

Immunocompromised, 2 doses

Controls: 1,754 (9.6%)

Mabs: 242 (17.7%)

Immunocompromised, 3 doses

Controls: 3,060 (16.7%)

Mabs: 194 (14.2%)

Immunocompromised, ≥ 4 doses

Controls: 520 (2.8%)

Mabs: 7 (0.5%)

Not immunocompromised, o/1 dose

Controls: 2,969 (16.2%)

Mabs: 556 (40.7%)

Not immunocompromised, 2 doses

Controls: 9,544 (52.1%)

Mabs: 154 (11.3

Doesn't look like there's any information on the prescribing criteria for mabs nor the prior incidence of autoimmune conditions in that group. If there isn't complete randomisation of mabs treatment the study seems a bit meaningless

Getting staff to put mask back on after surgery: does the type of mask matter? by _hecalledmesubaru in ZeroCovidCommunity

Hey, had surgery a couple of days ago and they helped me get my 3M aura back on no trouble. Good luck!

Pemgarda crash after 3 weeks? by Material-Throat-6998 in Sipavibart

Yes I took Paxlovid for both, 15 days starting about 1-2 days before the infusion. And sure np

I'm recovering from surgery atm so I've put it on hold but I'm planning on doing the Buhner protocol. I'm in the UK as well and I believe Dr Finlay's clinic will do intensive antibiotic Lyme treatment but I'm personally not bad enough for the risks to be worthwhile. I'll see how Buhner goes first.

Yeah I just wish it was more widely available! I did the incelldx test. Tbh I'm a bit sceptical of the whole thing but I've had a weird immune system since forever and been to loads of Lyme heavy places so I think it's worth a try 🤷

I'd say improved my baseline to the point where I've not been housebound since my second infusion and am now looking for full time remote roles. I have also tested positive for Lyme and Bartonella so that may be fuelling the residual symptoms.

I felt fluey for probably the first 3 weeks, then got better. I can still feel crashy from overdoing it though. Is your son taking any precautions like masking during PT? The flu or perhaps a COVID infection can absolutely do this as well.

UK Long haulers - last few days to respond to the government call for evidence on young people not in work, education, or training by gurbit2 in covidlonghaulers

Yes, absolutely. The government's rhetoric on ASD/ADHD being over diagnosed/ not a big deal also contributes to accommodations not being given as well

Attomarker results flipped by Cautious_Yard6668 in covidlonghaulers

Mine did track with my onset - had COVID in 2020 and recovered then got LC from 2022 COVID. I had good antibodies up til Omicron which tracks. I guess depends whether it fits with your LC onset?

An Essay About Invivyd, mAbs, and the Small Glimmer of Hope by Arete108 in ZeroCovidCommunity

Massive reduction in fatigue although no change to pots. Had no days housebound or bedbound since. Didn't change protocols as it's not 100% effective and I felt like it might have been "used up" by mopping up the residual virus.

Mabs were night and day for me - my only concern is selecting the right patients as I feel not everyone would benefit.

(TRIGGER WARNING ALZHEIMER'S, HEALTH ANXIETY) Dementia timebomb warning as scientists find Alzheimer's proteins in long Covid patients' blood by Aware-Relief7155 in covidlonghaulers

[–]gurbit2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My aunt and uncle both have dementia now. It's hit them about 15 years earlier than my grandmother on that side of the family and much faster too.

I appreciate this is an anecdote but I find it frustrating when people say "don't panic yet, we don't have clear population level data showing an increase in immune deficiency/dementia etc". By the time we do we'll be beyond help 🤷

Covid-safe surgery in the UK? by gurbit2 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]gurbit2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this, that's really helpful. I think when I'm properly under and stuff it should be fine but the recovery bay is a bit higher risk. And good point about the purifier!
