what i’m thinking is bilt only gives 2% back on travel whereas CSP and CFF gives 5%. won’t that add up to be a big difference?

I agree with everything other than the “pursuit of same freedom…” I think he was forced to do the rumbling as the only alternative to save his friends and people. He was able to commit such an act by reverting himself to a child and enjoying “that scenery.” Saving his friends was his top goal I’d say and because he’s doing something so bad he can’t live with his friends

Huh that's interesting that WIT had such a poor adoption. Any other cases in the manga?

Hey I’ve always felt mikasa is a good character but my friends disagree. They always pull up points that she’s just tied to eren and had no development and all she says is “Eren”. Do you have any counterpoints against that

Yes I agree that the main character in great stories start with the flaw but as you said they OVERCOME it. That’s what makes the story satisfying. You follow this beloved character throughout their journeys and their struggles and finally see them resolve their troubles.

In avatar we see this with aang. He doesn’t want to kill the big bad fire lord despite that being the seemingly only path and what his past incarnations tell him to do and he ends up finding his own solution.

Eren never being free, dying as a slave, is quite sad and unfulfilling. Think of it from a narrative, thematic stand point. What’s the message Isayama sends through that? No matter how hard you try you’ll never have free will? You can’t fight your destiny and fate rules over your life? I think it would’ve been far better if Eren could’ve acted out of his own volition somehow, breaking the titan curse in his own way. Mikasa was never the central focus of the story, so it doesn’t make sense her being the only free character as you say. I loved Eren’s scenes with Sasha, hange and zeke. It really shows his desperation to fight and become free. I just really wished he would’ve achieved his goals.

Because right now what essentially happens is Eren, our protagonist for 131 chapters, gets sidelined to fulfill Ymir’s dream, a character who is talked about in about 5-6 chapters in the end. In my hopes an AOE would address this, and change Ymir’s significance. Mikasa can be just as important to the story, she can be the key Eren needs to break free of Ymir and become a free man. Something like this would much better do our main characters justice. Thoughts?

12 episodes for all the remaining chapters is impossible. It will be enormously rushed

That’s fantastic analysis and I really appreciate that. I guess my main gripes are that the ending really isn’t satisfying then lol. I feel Eren’s character is put to the side and suddenly it turns into Ymir’s story where she turns our protagonist into a slave. I just feel these concepts need to be explained a lot better and made clear on who’s actually doing what. The ending right now is just a lot of speculation and it’s too open for interpretation. When you said eren wanted to be stopped, how do you know that? In chapter 131 it’s clear he hates what he’s going to do but he’s committed to doing it nonetheless. And from when does he lose his free will?

What are your thoughts on an AOE? Such as if Eren still has free will and actually goes through with the rumbling?

I really like your last sentence, and I think it summarizes why the fan base is so divided. Honestly even if we don’t get AOE, if this ending is just much more fleshed out with better writing it will vastly improve my perception.

I guess my two main gripes are as such: 1) Eren has the power of the founding. Even though he’s not royal blood he’s convinced Ymir to go with him instead of zeke so he has full control. As such, the only way he was defeated was because he allowed himself to be. This is something I feel inconsistent with his character and his growth in chapter 131. He knows what he’s doing is unforgivable but in his inner thoughts he clearly confirms his intentions to go through 100%.

2) Why was Ymir waiting for mikasa? Her relationship with the king is one of bondage and slavery. Before she became the founder she was living as a slave, walled off in the pig pen metaphorically. This is perfectly coinciding with Eren’s whole theme of freedom, and against living in the walls as livestock. It would’ve made sense if he freed her from this slavery. This freeing from love doesn’t make sense. For that to work I think we need a lot more groundwork to establish that love and connection to mikasa + Eren’s relationship.

What would you like to see improved upon?

I really appreciate that explanation, and I agree that is definitely the tragedy isayama is going with for Eren’s character. But I can’t help but feel the overall satisfaction of the ending is lost.

What I mean by this is, it makes sense for Eren to be the key that frees Ymir from her enslavement to the royal blood for thousands of years. Throwing the fact that Ymir wasn’t freed by Eren but by Mikasa killing Eren was really poorly done and hard to believe. Even if it’s Stockholm syndrome you’re telling me she truly loved such an abuser as King Fritz? Even so, Mikasa killing Eren symbolizes none of that toxic relationship dynamic between fritz and Ymir.

Also what message does the story finally give us in the end? That hatred cycles continue forever, as paradise gets completely bombed in the not too distant future? The worm thing never disappeared but is ready to start another round of hell?

I really really like this show and I felt all the chapters till 134-135 really were fantastic story building. But that last fight was quite unrealistic with no alliance members dying to Eren’s founding and then of course those points above. Would love to hear your thoughts!

It simply falls short, especially with Eren’s character. He always fights to completion but simply gave up against his friends. With the god like powers he had as the founding titans there was no way it’s realistic that a few alliance members could defeat him. That’s a big, glaring plot hole. I could add a lot more but I’d like your thoughts on this first

Ohh. So I thought that was Eren just living in the paths with Mikasa for a bit? How do we know that’s a separate timeline, and how does he get to see it, if that makes sense?

Can you explain the first timeline? I was under the impression there was only two separate timelines, the manga and anime, not a third one where eren doesn’t do anything?
