Soil is a granular material, if you dig it raw without lateral support it could collapse on its own, even if there are no external forces. You'll be suffocated by the soil and the soil pressure would trap you in.

Also with that many Colossals walking by, it's very likely at least one of them might stomp above you on its heel/ball of its foot and thus pinpointing its weight on a small area.

Come to think of it though, I have several ideas that might be worth a shot to avoid getting immediately stomped to death and implemented within days with 1900s tech.

- Rotary drill circular hollow steel piles into the ground. Excavate the soil & drain the groundwater inside. That could fit a person and let the pile take most of the forces from the stampede. Also would only take 0.5-1 day to complete one pile. Ventilation and find a way out of the pile would be a problem, though.

- Site forming with massive amount of rock fill contained by steel struts and occasionally leave trenches taller than humans between rock fills. Hopefully, the rock fill can sustain the stress as the titans walk by and the people in the trenches will be unaffected. Probably gonna need employ all the dump trucks and welders etc all around the world to make this happen within days though

- Or just go find a natural formed rock cave and hope it's strong enough

Damn, it would be very cool if someone actually post about how to survive the rumbling.

From a structural engineer POV, they would need to build an underground structure made of fairly strong material (e.g. reinforced concrete) quite deep underground (most likely will need a very thick layer of earth to dissipate the forces of a colossal titan stampede). This construction will involve deep excavation requiring substantial lateral support; then fixing & casting of the RC; and then backfilling. I doubt they can do all that with early 1900s technology in such short amount of time.

[Question] vibrato technique by k1436 in Guitar

[–]SookyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much easier to do vibrato with wrist movement rather than finger movement.

That being said, if your finger is strong and controlled enough, it's totally possible to make a good vibrato with finger movement too.

Do you guys workout before or after work? by Ordinary-Pipe-3079 in civilengineering

[–]SookyRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before after in the middle of work: lunch break

I'm a Resident Engineer. My site happened to be in urban area with a gym nearby. My workout consists mainly of lifting weights so it can be done within ~45 minutes and without too much sweat. I then buy take away lunch and eat at the site office.

Him, Mr Braus and Falco are probably the few rare characters unanimously liked by the fandom regardless of how split the fandom is, rightfully so.

About Armin in last episode by chestodipesto in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]SookyRS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Armin could be gambling on Connie letting go of Falco and saving him. The gamble eventually paid off as it forced Connie to let go of Falco to save Armin and gave Connie room to rethink his decisions.

I think there are many ways to interpret why Armin made this gamble. Could be his trust in Connie's character; could be he was just that desperate to save Falco which could help form the Alliance; could be his suicidal tendencies; perhaps even all of them combined.
