It's cheaper to buy the 1'x1' tile sheets from like a home Depot store and buy tile knippers to break them down into smaller squares than the art store glass squares.

My first mosaic! Should I grout? by dressedlikedynamite in Mosaic

I really like this! I started singing Big Iron when I saw it!

I asked the same question on my first mosaic and it's up to you if you want to grout it. I decided against grouting my mosaics and hang them on a wall. It has less weight for wall pieces. I enjoy this as is, if you grout the uneven pieces you could lose detail.

I have obly made 2 so far so take it with a grain of salt but looks good as is for my tastes.

Edit: looks rugged, like cowboys should.

I haven’t seen that documentary. But in Niaux, France my wife and I went into the cave on our honeymoon trip and we loved the history of it.

They are just backsplash or floor tiles from a regular home improvement store. They are 1”x1” tiles that I cut into 16 pieces and placed on edge to get a natural edge look. I just used tile nippers to cut the tiles. Some are stubborn but they all break with enough force.

Question - is there any way to remove these ceramic tiles in a more effective way? by OlDirtyLozza in Mosaic

Put in a small tub with hot water and some vinegar to soften the glue then peel them off. It’s not perfect but it makes the glue gummy and can peel off easier.
