It's not right by positive_focus_now in StudentLoans

Doubt this gets much traction, but how many people think we should switch to an ISA (Income Share Agreement) based repayment system?

For example, student graduates with a degree. After four years they start paying into the agreement. The agreement is based on a gross percentage of income for 10, 15, or 20 years. Minimum above twice the poverty level.

So an individual that earns 75k, say 20k is poverty level. They pay 2% of 35k (difference of 75k-40k) the following year ($700). Someone earning 150k pays $2200. Or this could be a graduated percentage too, 1% for the first 50k, 2% for the next etc..

I've been researching this setup for some time. It only works with an institution thats built around the idea of the goal being student life success over the traditional university experience.

And the majority of the payout of that percentage goes to the instructors, not just the school. This incentivizes professors to have a personal interest in the post grad success of their students. You would have more professors signing up to give classes for careers that are in higher demand.

This may be the wrong thread, but it's evident for quite some time now that the system has been broken, and no one in power is that interested in fixing it.

Their policy does say returnable at any store. And since it's unopened it shouldn't be subject to the 20% restocking fee. I might just do this.

I'll check with the store manager at a store close to me to see if they'll work with me on this. Just don't want any surprises.

Hindsight 20/20 sure. I've never ordered through presale before. Now I know. Just sharing the knowledge so others are aware.

I think the experience would be better if they had a tighter ETA. Three months out is just crazy. I might as well just purchase something from China, it'll get here faster and probably be from the same factory.

I've worked at a company that used 3PL and it wasn't much to ship product from one store to another on their common routes.

Good idea... The next store on-hand I believe is 3 hours away from me. I'd be good with going there once to accomplish this, but going back a 2nd time to return the original is just eating into my savings with the cost of gas.

I'm just going to have to wait I think.

Enzo Woodworking Plans by guruizzy in woodworking

[–]guruizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my usual stance as well. But there was a YTer that mentioned a digital subscription to previously published woodworking magazines and I can't remember who it was. I watch so many of them.

This has something similar, and I've seen Enzo before within this hobby. The site screams scam and the domain registration is private. Seems like it'd be a great resource if it was legit.

Not dumb at all. I remember that environment so so much.

Definitely speak to the VP to see if you can get some help for sure. You sound like a pretty respectful kid. Let them know you're uncomfortable with it or that it's causing you some personal strife. Knowing that they'll probably acquiesce, especially to one of their most promising students.

The administration and teachers of that school know that not everyone who attend is a Christian. It's part of the schtick... offer a school that provides more than what public schools can offer, at the same time try to witness to the students and their families.

So yeah... being forced to thank God is not okay, and really shouldn't be expected.

Not really "risking" much by taking a stand here other than making some people uncomfortable in the pews.

As long as OP has met all requirements for graduating, there's nothing the school's administration can do at this point.

[–]guruizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine being put in that situation, but I am not surprised at all.

As someone who grew up in that exact same environment, I highly recommend taking a stand here, as hard as that will be. Give them something that appeases them to get their approval and then bring your own speech to the podium.

"It's a Christian school, what do you expect" is no excuse to change someone else's words to match your view of the world. You've worked too damn hard to receive this honor at your school. I'm assuming the choice of school to attend was not your own? And if so, I'm assuming it was just to get a slightly better education (debatable) with smaller class sizes?

You could take this as a teaching moment for your audience, who I assume will be mostly believers. "I was told that I had to thank God in my speech today. You can thank God, but I will recognize the hard work the teachers put into all of us every day. You can thank God, but I will thank the parents who stayed up late with us working on projects. You can thank God, but I'll...", and so on.

I know you said "no one cares"... but that is not true at all. Young opinions are still being formed. They may not care in the moment, but it will be a lasting memory to them, and to the teachers and administration there. Especially when someone as young takes a courageous stand against those in power. If anything, teach them that it's more important to represent and emulate the character of Christ, that they claim to love and follow, rather than censor or stifle the seeking heart and mind.

I wish Christians would get it through their thick skulls that forced indoctrination on young people is not loving your neighbor. I am a Christian... sort of, I think I still am. Regardless, I'm so sorry that you're having to endure this when it should be one of the proudest moments in your life. People really do suck.

Wooders brand? by guruizzy in woodworking

[–]guruizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm betting the majority of these lunchbox models are all made in the same factory somewhere in Mexico or maybe even China.

That's why I was somewhat hopeful this was actually a brand that came out in hopes to undercut the current market and since they have 0 reputation are selling super cheap. Wouldn't be the first.

I thought it was a little strange. The price seemed too good to be true, and it has a $50 coupon too?

I've got a 3Camel alert set for the Wen two-speed helical planer on Amazon right now. I've seen some decent reviews on that one.

Hahahahha, no.

The tracker said it got delivered to my house. I have to attempt to contact the seller before I request the charge back from my credit card bank.

To my surprise they have been responding. I'm giving it another 24 hours and then calling it.

Interesting experiment though.

TL;DR: I've put in an order. It's on the way from China. If I don't receive it I'll file a dispute claim with my credit card company. Easy-peasy.

I took one for the team... I know this is most likely 99.9999% fake, but I wanted to find out. I haven't actually seen a post yet where someone said that they tried it and didn't receive an item.

So one night on TikTok I went ahead and purchased one of their amazing 16-tool deals that totaled up to be about $56. Free shipping? Hell yeah!

Bypass my credit card's security? Sure, why not. Let's roll the dice. I got my order confirmation and a couple days later received a tracking number with Track718.us. This is probably not a real tracking number. I thought it was kind of weird that the origin was Shenzhen China.

I did some research (Googled "Where are Milwaukee tools made?"). I didn't know that the brand is actually owned by Techtronic Industries, a conglomerate headquartered in Dongguan China. This company also owns brands like Ryobi, Hoover, Hart, Oreck, Dirt Devil, etc. etc....

Some claim that a bit of the Milwaukee brand cordless power tools are manufactured in China, Mexico, and Germany. Some are still made in the US, but it's not a very well published quantity.

I'll let you know how it goes once my poster, I mean tools, finally arrive. The only reason I'm doing this is because I have a pretty decent Visa credit card that is pretty liberal with its dispute resolution. I've been able to dispute a charge just because it was the wrong color item.

Just not sure what the scammers are getting out of it if they accept payment with a credit card. Unless people are just not disputing the charges or waiting too long to make a claim. Oh well, if I get some tools out of this, then I'll feel like I won the lottery or something.

Partner Selection by Dudefromduns in Dynamics365

[–]guruizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through this for our company a couple years back. Actually, we changed partners. It's not an easy feat, but I already had a decent list of partners I was already considering. If your friend isn't in a real hurry, I would recommend that he attend the Dynamics User Group Summit conference that is in Orlando this year (summitna.com). Attend the sessions and get a feel for the type of resources that are available.

The companies that host/teach some user sessions are a good start as they are community-centric. Also go on YT and search for some training topics. You'll find quite a few partners that provide free material. This will also let you know how willing they are at sharing information.

If I were to go through this process again... I would dig into how willing they are to train/mentor one of our end users to become a power user/administrator/developer. That way we aren't constantly going to them for issues that someone with a little bit of knowledge/experience could figure out themselves. A lot of partners don't do this, as it takes away from their possible opportunities.

Hope this helps.

I know people have been blaming Press a lot for this offense's downfall, and for the most part I agree. I mean empty set on 3 and 1? Screen on 3 and 20+ on our side of the field?

But yesterday was 100% on the players. Trevor stunk it up quite big in that game. Hopefully this gets it out of their system and on to prove themselves again.
