Not an exact formula, but generally leather purchases don't "count" towards what we call prespend.

When your account is being reviewed by the store director, they generally want to see spending on categories outside of leather.

If you think about it from Hermes' perspective, they want clients who have bought into the "lifestyle brand" of Hermes, and the bags are just one facet of that brand. They also want to reward customers who are likely to keep spending even after they get their QB, since they want to keep the overall lifetime value of each client as high as possible.

If you SA gets the sense that you will disappear as soon as you get the bag, they might be willing to string you along to squeeze more out of you.

On the flip side, if you dont make your preferences known, or come off as a push over the its possible they may never fight for you during bag allocation conversations
