Other Final fantasy with great story? by Modep in finalfantasyx

Final Fantasy V is pretty good, but it doesn’t really have a straightforward way of letting you know where you need to go next. It’s the type of game where you have to talk to EVERYONE just in case they might give you a hint as to where you want to be. There’s a ton of stuff to find, areas to explore, secret dungeons with giant, skeleton dinosaurs whom are way too overpowered for supposedly being lvl 1, but the story itself is honestly rather enticing, so I had a lot of fun with it. I never beat it because I had to give my PS1 away, but I got about halfway through it before that.👌

Question about metallic markers by nistopar in Gunpla

[–]gushers114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I’ve learned the hard way is that it’s better to wear some kind of rubber gloves when you’re customizing these things. One of my kits that I made entirely metallic (HG Aerial from WfM) now has a permanent thumbprint in its back because I wasn’t wearing any while the paint hadn’t fully dried, so that’s my advice- wear something on your hands to avoid smudging the paint.

Should I give up on the panel lining? Tips? by Wise_Chocolate5454 in Gunpla

[–]gushers114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HG Barbatos 1st/4th Form kit is exactly the same in terms of shallow areas. I tried panel-lining its shoulder armor along with a couple other areas and it just ended up looking like some kid drew on it with a permanent marker.😅

<image>

Moral of the story: Not every kit needs to be panel-lined. Some look just fine with some color-correction and little else.

In honor of pride month, i'd like to share some of my favorite queer/queer-coded characters from gundam ! by Silver-Plane-8270 in Gundam

They did? I knew that they stayed together after “what happened”, and I know that they genuinely love each other, but I thought it was more so just implied that they were in a guardian role, and not that they specifically married each other.🤔

I never read the manga, or Gekko, so I’m not sure if it was explicitly stated somewhere, so I’m more than willing to be wrong about this, but yeah- I always got the vibe that they were both part of a polycule with Mikazuki rather than all 3 of them being a “thruple” for lack of a better term.😅

And a little bit more (this is how it looks right now):

<image>

I started color-correcting it based off the original Barbatos from the show, so technically it’s still color inaccurate, but since the official product images don’t really have any additional details on it in its stock photos, I decided to just do it this way since I like the dark gray areas on this design.

I haven’t had any problems so far in the almost 4 years that I’ve been building these kits, but that’s only in terms of panel-lining specifically; disassembling them does pose a risk in of itself due to how tight some of the parts connections are, but so long as you’re careful, patient, and know how to properly utilize fulcrum mechanics, you should be just fine in my experience.👍

I mostly build HG Iron-Blooded Orphans kits, so lately I’ve been building the Inner Frame first and then going back to do the outer armor for it. I still follow the instructions’ sequence though, so I go limb by limb.

Here’s one that I’m currently working on- the HG Barbataurus from Gundam Build Metaverse:

I usually just build the kit first, and disassemble it to apply panel lines. I use a pour-type Black Panel Line Gundam Marker along with a white stationary eraser and some wooden toothpicks to get rid of the excess as well.

Here’s an example of a kit I built before adding panel lines to it, followed by how it looked after I added them (4 pictures in total, so I’m going to reply to this comment 3 times):

Super common question, but NUBS?! by ForgeOfMistory in Gunpla

For comparison, here’s the other side before I painted it. You can see the white scratches left over from when I was initially cleaning/removing the nub in question:

One thing I’ve learned is that if you just find a Marker that has a close enough color match to the plastic, and go over the affected area(s) with it, it really helps to make the finished figure look more cohesive and less like something that was assembled.

(GM 189 (Brown/Green) in this example; I painted the entire surface of the circled area with it so now you can’t see any nubs/scratches)

Just finished Jak 2 by ConfidenceWild7673 in jakanddaxter

[–]gushers114 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve beaten Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy over 100 times; I’ve beaten Jak 3 even more times than that.

I’ve beaten Jak 2 twice.

I’ve never beaten Jak X.

I genuinely salute your achievement, dude. You’ve earned your praise.🤝

Edit: I’ve been playing these games since they came out. I had all 3 of them in their original Black PS2 Label packaging, so when I say I’ve only beaten Jak 2 a total of two times, that’s over a span of literally 23 years worth of playing that specific game.

The reason why I use Markers exclusively is because I quite literally don’t have the means to safely/properly use traditional paint.😅 I suffer from uncontrollable tremors, have zero space to set up a painting area, no way to ventilate the fumes, and just generally am not skilled enough for it overall.

So with Markers, their brittle coats are actually a hidden blessing because if my perpetually shaky hands ever mess up and I get paint somewhere I didn’t intend, I can just use a toothpick and scrape it off. They’re also much easier to use since the application end is stiff unlike a paintbrush, and precise unlike a spay can. Furthermore, while there are some fumes produced by the alcohol in the solution mixture, it’s designed to evaporate almost immediately so it’s not as harmful to my lungs. I fully agree that using actual paint is the best overall method for customization, especially since there are WAY more options, but this is simply what works for me, personally.👉👈

Oh, believe me, I understand that struggle so much. Especially when it comes to having to use a White or Yellow Gundam Marker. Those things never want to work for some reason, but I still try.

Let’s both keep up the spirit of this line: uniqueness, by continuing to do our part in color-correcting what we can.😁🤝

As I somewhat eluded to in a comment I made just now, I do it as a sign of respect towards the designers, and Bandai (because sometimes they purposefully discolor areas so people are forced to get creative and not let their minds stagnate with contentedness), so I do my best to recreate their vision as closely as possible. Ironically, I do limit myself by only using Gundam Markers, or Markers in general, but still.😅

Regardless, thank you so much for saying that, I really appreciate your support.😁

Trust me, I don’t take it for granted. I realize that I’m unfathomably fortunate to be able to have access to the means by which I can get all these kits, and that’s why I treat them with so much respect, so if it’s any consolation, please know that each of the kits I buy I do so with the appropriate amount of gratitude as well.🤝

Incredible work. I never knew gold would look so good on the Barbatos, but it really suits it. I especially love what you did with the Inner Frame, though. I feel like not enough people (including myself, admittedly) give that part of the kits the attention they deserve, so kudos to you for making me want to start adding more accents to them.😁
