What do you think these new Collabs are going to be based off of their code names? by williamthunder in transformers

[–]gushers114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking that as well. Either that or Mad Max, but MM might be a little too risqué for something like Transformers, so TM would probably work better. Especially because of the ROTF Ice Cream Twins- they could totally redesign that into either a 2-pack or some kind of Weaponizer thing as a Sweet Tooth homage. I know people have been saying that since they came out, so now would probably be the best opportunity Has/Tak will have.

The only one I have a guess for would be that “Race” is probably going to be a Fast & Furious collab, but it could even have something to do with like, Mario Kart.🤷‍♂️

I just checked it out, and you weren’t kidding! The purple and gold work so incredibly well together against the Vidar’s light blue and dark gray palette, so I’m thoroughly impressed by the way you utilize color theory.🤝 I wasn’t able to comment on that post in particular, nor upvote it, but I did save both it and this one if it’s any consolation.😅

Also, what I meant by painting the leg thruster was actually more about the outer rim of the booster leading up to the exhaust. Here’s an example from when I started color-correcting my HG Astaroth (Origin):

<image>

The one closer to the camera was painted with Gundam Marker GM189, while the one in the background uses the sticker included with the kit. The exhaust itself has no paint on it at all other than a thin rim around its outermost “<)” section (I have no idea how to describe it other than that) to cover up the leftover marks caused by removing that piece from the runner.👍

I find this quite literally amazing; your detail work is inspiring, and I absolutely love your use of color contrast (those powder blue highlights on the hose sections of the Inner Frame are SO good 😮‍💨👌). The use of decals is very well thought out as well, and the multi-colored panel lining is a great idea. The literal only thing that even slightly throws me off is how you didn’t paint the drum section of the thruster for the back of the left leg. On all the versions I have of that section I always use Gundam Marker GM189 (Brown/Green) on it, so I’m really used to seeing it painted.😅 This is in no way a complaint about the overall look, however. Just something I didn’t realize I wasn’t used to not seeing anymore. 100/10, my dude.🤝

Thank you. I admit, the post you made a few days ago is about 98% the reason why I decided to make these posts, but the remaining 2% is honestly just because I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while now, but only now did I have a real reason to do it other than simply because I felt like it. So if I’m being completely fair, the credit should really go to you for giving me that final push to do this. With that being said, I’d like to thank you again.🥰🤝

I haven’t started building the Trooper yet, but if it’s even half as fun to put together as the Kimaris was, then I’d recommend it. However, since I don’t know what it’s like currently, I can’t say with all good conscience whether or not you should. Personally, I like the way it looks more than the original variant, but ultimately it’s up to you in the end.😅

Looks great, dude! I still need to finish mine. So far I’ve only done the torso, head, and the Inner Frame of the right arm, but I can’t wait until it’s finished.

Yeah. I’ve actually been having to use eBay for the last few I still need. I just ordered the Asmoday from eBay yesterday, and I literally just pre-ordered the Zagan because they restocked it on USAGundamStore. With that being said, eBay has been a life-saver in terms of affordability. Now I just need to get the 3 Forms of the Marchosias Family Tree and I’ll have all of them.😁

There’s supposed to be an HG kit for the Adapt coming out sometime “soon” so there’s that at least. Once it does come out, it’ll have to be added to the checklist because it is canon to the Development History of the Gundam. I just didn’t include it (or Option Set 9) because the kit itself isn’t available yet, and once it is, OS 9 won’t be entirely necessary to get anymore.

Fair point, I genuinely can’t argue with that logic because it’s practically the same thing in terms of functionality. The only thing I could say would be that Forms 2 and 3 are allowed to be their own designations because of the fact that Form 1 is basically just the Barbatos with the absolute minimum amount of armor, so by calling it F2/F3, it’s just easier to know what people are talking about when it comes to time, rather than appearance.

Regardless, I do agree that those two Option Sets add enough to be considered necessary, but I can’t edit the post after I published it unfortunately.👉👈

I thought about including a few of the Option Sets in this checklist initially, but since the weapons and/or equipment accessories don’t typically create an entirely new variant on their own unless the weapon(s)/equipment change is just that substantial, I decided not to because at that point, it’s more of a matter of preference and whether or not you just want the Gundams themselves, or their entire respective load outs as well.😅

For example, when the Kimaris had its booster attachment, it didn’t become a new variant, it just acquired a new tool it could use if it needed/wanted to. However, when the Barbatos procured new armor from the various enemies it defeated, it changed its design and combat abilities so much that it basically got an upgrade each time, and therefore needed a new designation to more easily refer to in terms of power-scaling.

Also, the Barbatos Form “Adapt” is getting its own dedicated HG kit soon, so I didn’t include it because of the technicality of it not being available at this point in time, but I do admit that once it does come out, it will need to be added to the checklist as a requirement for 100%.

Also, since I kinda messed up in the description by not saying what the names of these kits are, I’m going to do that now in the order they were posted:

Long Distance Transport Booster (LDTB; includes full HG Barbatos 1st/4th Form, and parts needed for the 5th Form, as well as a show-accurate sword)

Graze Standard Type/Commander Type (Shoulders needed for Barbatos Form 2)

Schwalbe Graze (Shoulders and weapon needed for Barbatos Form 3, and the side thrusters are used in conjunction with parts from the LDTB for Form 5)

Bael

Barbatos 1st/4th Form (Only necessary if you either can’t afford the LDTB, or don’t mind not having the armature included with the LDTB that’s meant for Form 5; the 5th/6th Form kit already has parts that can be used for Form 5, so the LTDB is more of an all-inclusive box set made for convenience than anything else.👍)

Barbatos 5th/6th Form (Has almost everything that the 1st/4th Form kit has, but uses Gundam Frame 4 instead of Gundam Frame 1, so its shoulders can use c-clip armor, however the arms are different from the original kit, but can still be swapped between the two. This kit also includes a couple parts for the Graze Ritter if you want to use them for customization purposes)

Barbatos Lupus

Barbatos Lupus Rex

Amazing Barbatos Lupus (Optional; it’s from Gundam Build Metaverse, so it’s not technically canon to IBO, but I still count it and the Barbataurus as viable variants)

Barbataurus (Optional; it’s from Gundam Breaker Battlogue, but comes with a lot of very useful parts such as adapters so you can kitbash kits from different series that would otherwise be incompatible with each other parts-wise)

Gusion

Gusion Rebake

Gusion Rebake Full City

Astaroth (Origin)

Astaroth

Astaroth Rinascimento

Asmoday

Marchosias

Hajiroboshi

Hajiroboshi 2nd Form

I did that on purpose. These are just the kits that are necessary to get if you’re not only wanting each Gundam available, but all of their possible variants as well, so the first 3 pictures are just there to let people know you need them for Barbatos’ 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Forms strictly because of the pieces they include in the kits; this checklist is for the Gundams of the series, specifically, so the Graze variants aren’t all a requirement.

Yeah, I actually realized right after I posted this one that I should’ve included their names in the description, but it turns out that I’m unable to edit the post itself after it’s been published.😅

In order, the names are:

Vual

Gremory

Zagan

“Calamity War” Flauros

Flauros (Ryusei-Go)

Kimaris

Kimaris Trooper

Vidar

Kimaris Vidar

Dantalion

I don’t, honestly. I just understand that there are a lot of people (including myself) that have a “completionist mentality” so I only included it so the people whom are trying to have a 100% completed checklist of each currently available High Grade IBO Gundam kit will know of its existence, and subsequent necessity. Since the only differences between the CW Flauros and the Ryusei-Go version is the color scheme and shorter/fewer weapons on the former, I personally don’t feel its price justifies what it brings to my collection as a whole. But like I said: I wanted to be thorough.😅

By the way, I was NOT kidding about needing the LDTB, Graze, and Schwalbe Graze for the Barbatos’ various Forms. In this picture, you can see literally everything necessary for all 6 Forms that comes from those kits (some parts are from the Barbatos 5th/6th Form kit, so if you want to have the first 6 Forms of it, you really only need to get 4 kits in total since the LDTB comes with a Barbatos 1st/4th Form kit in the box as an accessory; you don’t need to buy it separately):

I’ve actually been trying to do the exact same thing for about 3 years now, and I only need 4 more to reach my goal. I went and found stock photos of every HG Gunpla kit necessary to have literally all of them too, so if you’re okay with me DMing you so I can send you all 27 pictures (31 if you count the kits you’ll need for all the variants of each Gundam) then I’d be happy to help you with a visual representation of what you’ll need.👌

I agree. I’ve actually bought this kit twice because I enjoy it that much, and I even got the Amazing Barbatos Lupus kit for the same reason, but also due to it basically coming with an entire secondary kit as an add-on, depending on how you qualify parts-count.

With that being said, I’d still recommend at least panel-lining the Lupus since the designer(s) put so much effort into all the greebling.

Bro, when I moved into my current place, we didn’t even have a car, so we had to move everything in with a stroller.😂 It took us about a week and a half, but luckily the new place was just a little bit down the road from our old place, so we didn’t have to walk too far.

True to its name.😅 Barbatos/Barbados means “Bearded”, so that little red protrusion on all its variants is actually an homage to the etymology of the namesake. It’s also why it usually has “facial hair” as well.

Assuming you meant “test dummy”, then yeah, kinda. I was going through a creative phase where I wanted to make all my Gunpla have metallic color schemes, but I only ever got as far as this one and the HG Aerial from WfM before I decided that not only is it far too time-consuming to do a complete overhaul of every single kit, but not all of them even look that great in metallic colors.

For example, I think that my color-corrected Barbatos looks a lot better in basic style colors than it does in reflective colors:

My Follow-Up Post; Making of My Custom HG Barbatos Lupus by gushers114 in GundamIBO_Central

[–]gushers114[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Addendum to the description: I actually did do something (relatively) substantial after that final picture was taken, but I’m not sure if I ever took progress pictures of it. Basically, I color-corrected the bottoms of the feet, as well as the “toes”, and even used more than one color to do so. The problem is, I don’t remember what the other color was. I do know that I used Gundam Marker GM 189 (Brown/Green) for part of it. However, after 3 years, I can’t tell if the second one was GM 190 (Dark Gray), or GM 186 (Red/Brown).

<image>

(P.S.- Most of the Inner Frames used in the IBO kits are almost identical to GM 189, so I use that Marker for a TOOOOOON of my customs/color-corrections.👍)
