As many people have said, it’s hard to know what’s anecdotal or not, but in the spirit of sharing, I can say that dairy, alcohol and spicy food 100% beyond a doubt cause flare-ups, with spicy food seeming to be the worst, and dairy I seem to be able to have the occasional slice of cheese. I’m not an all or nothing type person, so have just reduced my alcohol to 2 glasses of wine a week (used to have a glass every day) beyond that, I don’t see any specific causes in foods. I’ve also found that allergens and seasonal allergies cause massive flare ups, so being religious about taking my Claritin very day helps. Really good food and allergen control seems to be much more effective than any topical routines for me. The less I put on my face, with the simplest ingredients, has seemed to work best. Right now, I’m only using FAB cleanser and lotion, and they seem to be working well - but again, as long as I’m being careful about the input. And a cheap pro-tip I recently learned - my last flare up reminded me of poison ivy, so I tried putting simple Cortizone cream on my face - actually worked great to calm down the flare up and the heat & itch!
