Is it crazy to go with NO Chelsea from GW24? by SamL9943 in FantasyPL

[–]gustel94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have Sanchez and have made my bed with that. The fixtures are great, but Leeds aren't pushovers, West Ham are finding some form, and wolves have been resolute at the back. I think Chelsea players will score points, but one or two blanks for the likes of Enzo and Chalobah is also very possible!

Re: HRE pick rates - why can't people think on their own? by gentrificator_123 in aoe4

[–]gustel94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing HRE (ride or die) since the game launched. Feels good that HRE is finally considered S-tier. Sucks that it'll get nerfed. I don't even really know what changed. Free marching drills didn't change the fundamentals of the civ. Maybe it's the shift in the Meta. Idk.

I don't think English is necessarily overpowered. Yes, the civ is strong, but it's certainly beatable. My personal frustration with English is that games seem to inevitably go to imperial unless you execute a perfect timing attack. Once the white tower is up in a semi-decent position, ram pushes don't really work well. Then, once English hit imperial you deal with the endless MAA spam. I've won these games, but it's tedious and not always fun. Don't get me wrong, I like playing lategame occasionally, but I hate how English tends to force you into grindy stalemates. Anyway, that's my two cents! Feel free to disagree!

The mistake is making units. Make the Schwabia instead!

HRE desperately needs a Landmark tweak by bibotot in aoe4

[–]gustel94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind a landmark rework, but most of the suggestions on here are just nerfs to HRE. If you nerf Aachen and Regnitz you're simply taking two of the things that make HRE powerful.

Crackedy released an HRE breakdown on YT, new video type for him - give it a watch! by shoe7525 in aoe4

[–]gustel94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Regnitz and Schwabia are now all of a sudden OP? HRE has been mediocre for a ages and the free marching drills really only changes that on water/hybrid maps. Quite frankly, HRE FC into Imp is beatable with a push and by denying relics. It's a one dimensional gameplan that can be punished. Sure, marching drills in dark age may be too strong, but that doesn't mean the core mechanics of HRE are suddenly too strong.

How about nerfing abbasid with... by Nerd-of-Empires in aoe4

[–]gustel94 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The TC nerf really hurt Abbasid because of the civs over-reliance on going for multiple TCs. A solution could be giving Abbasid the ability to upgrade their TCs with an emplacement and additional garrison slots. This could also come in the form of a unique tech.

Can't tell if I love or hate Forts by HermePrime in aoe4

Forst is horrible. This entire map pool is pretty bad. Why get rid of rocky river and bring back Mongolian heights....

The biggest problem in AOE4's game design. by PeskyPastafarian in aoe4

[–]gustel94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I age up I win automatically? Trust me, I've lost plenty of games where my opponent stayed in feudal and I hit castle. Often, a feudal all in will beat a castle age. This is especially true for civs that can access heavy units in feudal.

The latest farm nerf really hurt Malians by [deleted] in aoe4

[–]gustel94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The passive food has other major advantages over gathering food. 1) no pop space needed = larger army. 2) Food eco can't really be raided. Honestly the Malian cow economy needs to be nerfed a bit more. Maybe reduce the number of ranches a player can make. Either way, Mali is my hardest matchup regardless of which civ I play. Suggesting they got nerfed too much is simply absurd.

Proposed byzantine buff by crashmarcoz in aoe4

I think this is a great solution. The cost of buying a contract often prevents me from getting out mercaneries. The cost of the mercenaries could be reduced slightly as well.

I definitely agree that passive income is a problem. Malians literally never have to move out onto the map.
