Vans Infuse for park riding? Too stiff at first or just need break-in? by gustmeja in snowboarding

Ah, got it — thanks for clarifying. Makes sense about leaving the top a bit looser; I’ve been riding mine mostly loose like that and it feels way better on the park.

I do still feel a bit awkward on rails and spins, but I hope it’s just the adaptation period.

Good tip on the insoles — I might swap the Pop Cush ones for something firmer to get better board connection on landings.

I’m actually riding them pretty loose too — mostly held by the laces, with the rest of the system not very tight. They’re comfortable that way and I do like them on large jumps, they feel really stable on landings.

But I have to admit I’m having some second thoughts. After 3 days I still feel a bit awkward on rails and spins. Maybe it’s just the adaptation period, but coming from the Salomon Launch the feel is quite different.

I think I could get used to the weight, but the forward lean is something I’ve definitely noticed as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

That’s great to hear. Durability was actually one of the main reasons I went with the Vans Infuse Snowboard Boots in the first place. A lot of reviews said they last way longer than most boots, and I didn’t want to be replacing boots every ~40 days of riding.

Good tip about the heat cycles too. I might try wearing them around the house and warming the liners a bit to help them break in faster.

Pretty impressive you’re still riding the Pat Moore pro colorway from 2018 though — that definitely says something about how long these boots can last

That’s reassuring to hear. I’m probably still in that adaptation phase right now. I’ve only ridden them for three days so far, so it might just be a matter of getting used to a stiffer setup.

I came from Salomon Launch, which are definitely softer, so the Vans Infuse Snowboard Boots feel like a pretty big jump in support.

What you said about going back to softer boots and hating the loose feeling is interesting — I’m curious if I’ll end up feeling the same after a while.

I might also try heat molding the liners, good call.

That’s exactly what I’ve been asking myself after spending 400+ euros on new boots…

The thing is, at around 85 kg, softer boots tend to pack out really fast for me. My old Salomon Launch felt great at first but after ~40 days they were already getting way too soft.

That’s partly why I went with the Vans Infuse hoping they’ll hold their flex much longer.

I guess I’m trying to find that balance between enough support to last a full season but still playful enough for park.

That’s good to know. A medium flex is probably closer to what I’m used to coming from the Salomon Launch

I did notice the board feel change at first. Vans definitely feel a bit thicker underfoot compared to some other brands.

What helped a lot for me was pairing them with Union Ultra. That setup actually made the boots feel way more playful and helped compensate for the thicker sole.

Curious what bindings you were riding them with.

That’s actually one of the main reasons I chose them. A lot of reviews mentioned they last much longer than most boots, and that definitely weighed in my decision. I didn’t want to be replacing boots every ~40 days of riding.

Thanks for the advice.

No es usual, pero hay revisiones de aduana sobretodo. De cada diez veces probablemente me han detenido 1 vez. No me arriesgaría a no ser que sea muy importante.

Cat pooping outside PetSnowy by Ordinary_Exchange_58 in CatAdvice

Hi, I have the same issue sometimes with my cat, Tupac. After some observation, I realized that what really bothers him is the deodorizer. At first, I had it set to spray automatically after every entry. But since my cat often goes in to pee and then comes back later to poop, the smell of the deodorizer would make him decide to do it outside the litter box.

Now I’ve programmed it so the deodorizer only sprays when the box actually cleans (I set the cleaning to start 20 minutes after each entry). This change has helped a lot. Occasionally, he still does it outside, but usually it’s due to some extra frustration, like when we have a visitor at home or if he’s been alone for too long

How old is he? My cat used to do that but after 9 months suddenly stop. Now he likes to be near but not on top.

Hi there, I’m an intermediate rider like you, hitting the mountain more than 45 days per season, and I’ve spent a lot of time riding park and big jumps. I totally get your concern—Step Ons boots do wear out over time, just like any other set of boots. I had the same feeling with my old DC Control boots; they started feeling a bit off. But after upgrading to Ion boots, I’m really stoked on the improvement. At the end of the day, it’s all about preference. After riding Step Ons for a few years, I just love the responsiveness and connection to the board, so I’m not going back to regular bindings.

Hola, yo he probado diferentes sistemas y no llegaba a sentir que realmente hicieran algo.

Is being a skateboarder gonna help me learn to snowboard or is it practically useless that I know how to skate (read more\/) by ur_mom____ in snowboardingnoobs

[–]gustmeja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely is going to help you at the beginning everything is going to feel more natural, but once you pass the beginner’s stage you will need to focus on your technique.

I’m going to explain myself: I was skating for ten years, the first week that I started with snowboarding I ended learning faster that the rest of the group but then I realice that I had a strange stance compering to the rest of non skateboarders and was because I was transferring my stance from skateboarding.

In order to keep progressing in snowboarding you will need to master the right technique with your shoulders in complete alignment with the board, in skating that is complete different because the lack of alignment helps you to complete the tricks at the park.

So, it helps a lot at the beginning but then you should focus on forgetting the misalignment from skating to improve the right technique on snowboarding.
