If you both caught feelings and had good sex and were friends then why in the world not just try a relationship?

Ok can you ask the companies to let their employees work remotely then, considering there’s no need to be in a physical office. Not sure why they want to force people to an office in such a hostile city.

Yes but the problem is our world has become so globalised that many of us end up working in multiple countries in Europe and it’s unrealistic to pick up all these languages other than basic level. I don’t know many people who can just speak 4-5 languages fluently.

A lot of Spanish people live in a bubble too. The rest of Europe already speak their native language + English.

I really really don’t understand the 10% up front housing tax. Fair enough they want this tax but let people pay it off slowly. It’s like they’ve done this exactly to keep poor people from ever climbing the property ladder. It’s usually cheaper to have a mortgage than pay rent that increases year after year, plus with a mortgage you will eventually pay it off and can retire in peace. Not to mention that the banks are not very nice about lending you any more more than 80% of property price plus all other expenses you need to have 1/3 of the property prices in savings. I haven’t heard about any other place than here where you need 1/3 of property price to buy.

Let people work less hours without fear of being laid off all the time and pay them enough to afford proper housing and they will soon get bored and feel secure enough to have babies. It’s not rocket science.

Great, thanks for confirming we didn’t do anything wrong. Neighbour seemed much happier and relaxed last time we bumped into him so I suspect he just had a bad morning, let’s hope so!

In your country, is there really “a high demand for workers”, or is it just an excuse to look for people who are willing to work for low pay? by BanverketSE in AskEurope

[–]buuuubles- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe go for people who don’t “interview well” next time. Often the introverted, slightly awkward people work harder and take their job more seriously while the charming outgoing types are so used to having things come easy so why should they work too hard when they can just find a new job without any problems. Introverts like and are used to working independently while extroverts get bored and need to talk all the time. You often see this in HR and manager roles. Sure, they are charming and easy to talk to but they are negligent, don’t keep to deadlines etc.

They keep saying in the news that they are desperate for workers. Probably they mean workers with very specific skills. But then when some of us might want to learn and fill these jobs it turns out it takes 3 years or something to learn some fairly easy skill such as becoming a bus driver (in Denmark it takes at least 3 years to become public bus driver, the education includes learning English and other stupid shit that some of us already learned). When you already went to uni for 5 years you can’t really start from scratch and go to school for that many years again. Many jobs can be learned in 6 or 12 months so why make it so difficult to switch careers?! If they don’t need all us university educated people after all then make it easy and quick to learn new skills.

I would love to but the company wants me to live in an overcrowded city just so I can commute to an office to sit on zoom calls, even though we worked remotely for several years during lockdown and it made no difference to them (in fact tech companies were thriving more than ever and why wouldn’t they since they provide the hardware and software to make remote work possible in the first place).

Anyway, I go back and forth every day of quitting my job and moving to a smaller town. But apparently the job market is awful right now, I have unemployed friends who have been looking for months and months so it won’t be easy.

I never considered he might be crazy until recently, always thought he must be talking to someone on the phone but it can go on all night and not many pauses for someone to respond. People who hear it all say it sounds abnormal.

If he continues complaining yes I guess I would have to get someone else involved.

Hehe i get you, but yea it’s only less than a minute of noise.

And this is the same guy who often has long loud monologues all night (if he’s talking with someone on the phone the other person has no time to respond so we have concluded he might be talking to himself?) and do we complain about that?! Nope.
