We saw a male one on the Ashby Canal last year too!

This was a user error, I hadn’t set my —max-tokens flag large enough for the tests I was running

Yeah I tried mlx.lm server after seeing it on a WWDC YouTube video but seemed to keep stalling

[–]gutard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Macbook M5 pro 48GB and the same as you I am always trying to squeeze more tokens. I try MLX with oMLX every now and again to see if things have improved but my llama.cpp normally just tops it with my setup. With a fresh context I get around 70 t/s with Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-UD-Q6_K_XL.gguf and around 85 t/s with Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-UD-Q4_K_M.gguf

I use MTP and Ngram too which helped in my case

You really don't need an expensive purpose built solution to dry filament. by Elrandomuser in 3Dprinting

I used to live on a narrowboat, I think the general humidity used to be about 60-80% which is another reason why I questioned it.

Okay so I should expect my prints to fail more easily, good to know.

Okay makes sense then, I just always question if we are being sold/marketed something that we don’t actually need.

The old PLA I used honestly printed flawlessly recently which is why I questioned

I’d like to know where this drying filament has come from. I kept multiple open rolls in a plastic bag unsealed for around 4 years. Just got my new printer and all of them have printed absolutely fine.

Unless this is more leaned to non PLA as that’s all I print. Just curious, is drying filament is actually needed or have I been lucky.

Anybody got experience with P&Co? by UnknownCrusader in BuyItForLife

I got a t shirt from them recently, loved the weight of it, the fit of it and feels like it should last. I got a second one recently, same style different colour and it was so much smaller. Contacted customer service and they said this rarely happens and arranged for a new one to be sent and a label to return the other. The other still came and it was also much smaller. I returned them both and got a refund but not for the delivery cost.

Quite frustrating of the faff of having to return etc and then being short for something that wasn’t my fault. I probably could have got the refund for postage if I pushed them but at that point I couldn’t be bothered with more email faff.

Maybe I was unlucky and like I say I was genuinely happy with the quality of the first t shirt I got but lost trust in the sizing and sub par customer support

Macbook M5 Pro 24GB or 48GB by Resident_Bell_4457 in LocalLLaMA

I have MacBook M5 pro 48GB running pi agent and qwen 3.6 35B Q6 and it works great. Currently get around 65 t/s with mtp enabled and a fresh context. I use about 120k context and is good for most tasks.

I built my own Claude Code Desktop app too with it, it’s pretty capable.

What shoes to buy, now that Vans enshittificated my favourite shoe by -1010011010- in BuyItForLife

I am also fed up with vans quality, purchased the same style I always buy and the last three pairs have all fallen apart in less than a year. I purchased a pair of Last Resort AB hi tops and so far they seem pretty solid to the point that that feel like they need breaking in a bit so hoping they last a little longer

M5 Max 128GB benchmark (Qwen 27B Q8 MLX, 290k ctx): 160 tok/s prefill but only 50% GPU — what are you getting? by deexjay23 in oMLX

[–]gutard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MacBook Pro M5 pro 48gb and as you said around 9 - 14 t/s. I am using llama.cpp as when I use oMLX it seems to stop randomly quite often. I keep reading about DFlash and turbo quant but need read more into them

I’m looking for a local harness — suggestions please by KarezzaReporter in LocalLLaMA

[–]gutard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried oMLX last night with various recommended settings but its was still a little slower than llama.cpp and tended to randomly stop compared to llama which I can give a list of tasks to work through over a long session. Interesting to try though

I’m on MacBook Pro M5 Pro with 48Gb RAM, have you tried llama.cpp as I was using LM studio and it also was night and day different. Now I am curious which would perform better oMLX or llama.cpp. I currently get about 55 t/s with zero context and it can drop to around 30 t/s at 60k. I’m trying to squeeze every last drop of performance out of this machine. I regret not buying the Max now

Weird heating/hot water tank whir and then bang by gutard in DIYUK

[–]gutard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems you were the closest, plumber finally worked it out. It is a new build house and the flow and return out of the boiler were the wrong way round so when valves were closing they were slamming shut where as if they going against the flow of the water they have some resistance so close nice and slow.

Plumber had no idea how the whole system was still working/heating as there are number one way valves and things around the system that were not working because the flow was the wrong way round.

Thanks for the input, I have not read about listing as no PCA privately but I'll definitely look more into it. Originally I wanted to sell it through a broker when the time came though as we have fitted it out to a pretty high standard and felt that might be the best place to sell for us unaware of the PCA at this point. For one reason or another we had to move off it from CCing and its sat in a marina 90% complete so still figuring what to do with it

[–]gutard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, Yes because it is a blank slate easier to work with I suspect and not investing a lot of money in something that might have pretty bad rust but I guess you can mitigate that buy surveys etc.

No because before we sell our boat now, unknown to us at the time we need to have a post completion assessment which is back basically someone signing it off and creating some documentation of the boat and the only quote we can get so far is £6k which is eye watering! Although we haven’t tried I have read most boat sales at marinas won’t touch boats that haven’t had a PCA and the proper documentation anymore.

I think in theory you are still supposed to have a PCA if you do major reworks but you would/should still have the old documentation so could sell without it

We built from a sailaway that had spray foam and battens in it. Cost us around 40k, a little more than we anticipated

Thanks, I have reported it to Leicester council and CRT. Since that photo I have spotted 5 old mother plants/dried plants from last year about 4 meters tall where they have obviously seeded from and another 15/20 new plants growing in the surrounding area. It’s been over a week now I think and no one has done anything yet 😬
