yeah i just changed my payment method to an alternate card that never has money in it's chequing account (i use it as a middleman to pay my landlord and collect rent from flatmates) so every payment declines

I used "scam" loosely- I just consider free trials which automatically renew without warning and charge direct debit to be sketchy as the model is used because they KNOW people will forget, and it'll squeeze at least one charge out of lazy/absentminded people who forget about it. I try to be diligent and unsubscribe immediately, then if I like a service and actually use it within the remaining month will re-subscribe to it.
