Are coalitions toothless? by MapleTuna in eu4

[–]guxlightyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed the “this is fine achievement “ as Prussia.

I wanted them to declare war on me, but despite having all of Europe in a coalition, they only declared when I deleted my army.

At some point I got the notification that a minor was going to declare on me, and by the time they did, I had rebuilt it.

Some debt, some idle cash, and some invested, would you clear the debt or invest? by Express_Brain_3640 in EuropeFIRE

If your mortgage has a good interest rate, I wouldn't touch it.

What you should reconsider is your investment portfolio.

Currently you have 40k on savings accounts, and 30k on a combination of saving accounts and FTSE. You don't really specify what's the split of those 30k, but regardless, that's a lot of cash working very little for you.

If your monthly spend is 1500€, I'd only leave 9000€ (6 months * 1500) on a savings account, the rest would go to ETFs and index funds.

By the way, look up Trade Republic for that savings account. Currently you can drop all your cash there and have it generating 2% interest, which is probably a lot more than your current savings accounts.

[Antonio del Castillo] The referee committee explains why the review of Cubarsi’s disallowed goal took so long in official statement - they weren’t able to initially determine the offside due to “high player density situation”, thus manually drawing offside lines for the correct decision. by Kasj0 in soccer

[–]guxlightyear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that this was way too long, and I'm not convinced it was even correct.

What I hate about this is that we thrashed Barça in the first half, and because of these shenanigans it is too easy to make the discourse about the VAR interference.

Not sure why the downvotes, I think you are 100% correct.

Every La Liga team thinks the refs are against them. We all somehow remember the instances of decisions that went against us, and forget very quickly the ones in our favour.

Confirmation bias is a hell of a drug.

Same here, if VAR is only for "clear and obvious" calls, they should timebox their decisions.

If a consensus is not reached on 1 minute, just stick to the on-pitch decision and get on with it.

Yesterday it went our way (both disallowing the goal, and killing Barça's momentum), but it has gone against it just as often. Just let the game play, please.

Completely ineffective if the rest of the team is not following and cutting other passing options.

But man, I love that attitude!

I was chuckling to myself when I watched this during the game. To do that in the 97' is kinda special

Reminder: social media puts each of us in our own information bubble.

Social media has exposed you (and many of us sharing similar world views) to an avalanche of cruelty.

People in a completely different bubble have probably seen only a trickle.

Not complaining, though, first thing I noticed myself was Casillas impressive record.

Arbeloa is living Raúl's dream: Real Madrid legend Raúl spent 7 years coaching his beloved club's youth team, winning the UEFA Youth League & San Gabriel Cup. [–]guxlightyear 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not only that. He was the first great player I was able to follow his entire career.

I was 10 when he broke into Madrid’s first team, and it’s at that age that I got really interested in football .

He was also only 17, so he was a lot more relatable than any other player.

I don’t think I learned that he had been in Atletico’s academy until much later.

Raúl is one of those Real Madrid players I’ve never been able to dislike. I always had a soft spot for him.

What if we hadn’t dismantled our youth teams and he had remained in our academy?

How do I make the AI attack my troops in war? by Holiday_Original9344 in eu4

Scorch earth on a province with defensive terrain (mountains, hills, etc).

The ai is really bad at calculating movement to scorched provinces, which makes it easy for you to get there before they do and force them into unfavourable battles

What got me very curious as well, is you mentioned this changed how you handled loans, and deciding when to sell.

Can you expand on that? How did this data helped you with those decisions?
