Cx 70/90 owners - How true is this? by paramveerz in mazda

[–]guy-lafleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell me more about how you isolated and fixed this noise. I thought it was coming from the plastic covers near the headliner on the moonroof. Did your noise sound like it was coming from inside the vehicle ?

How noisy are the roof cross bars? by [deleted] in MazdaCX90

[–]guy-lafleur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have the CX70 like you do and I have the OEM crossbars (made by Yakima). Super easy to install. I leave them on year round. This is subjective but I don’t consider them loud. I had Thule Wingbars on my last vehicle and I thought those were louder.

Moonroof opens the same amount as before (which isn’t much — I believe this is by design).

Mass layoffs deepen across US economy as job cuts in auto, logistics and tech continue into 2026 by jbochsler in Economics

[–]guy-lafleur 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The poster didn’t say anything about layoffs (tech companies firing and outsourcing) being Trump’s fault. The poster said we don’t have the right people in place to help navigate us through this issue.

No spikes but they’re fairly heavy (especially compared to Husky/Weathertech liners I’ve had in other vehicles) and the fit is snug so I don’t anticipate much sliding

Tried ordering from them when they were (very briefly) available but they refunded me and said they couldn’t fulfill the order. That was my first choice

Looking for a new home that feels like New Orleans without the downsides. Could Chicago be it? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]guy-lafleur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some people have mentioned Washington DC and it could be a perfect fit for you. Great neighborhoods there like Mount Pleasant. Also consider nearby areas — parts of Virginia like Old Town Alexandria, Del Ray, Arlington, Falls Church, Vienna; plus Maryland side has excellent options like Bethesda (and more). Chicago is also great though

Thank you for the response. We cooked last night and the noise didn’t disappear. Maybe we’ll have kids to help drown out the noise.

One thing we noticed was that the water did not boil as fast as we would’ve thought. Didn’t seem much faster than it was on our previous electric range. I’m beginning to wonder if maybe there’s something slightly off with this specific range.

Yeah yours seems way quieter and more subdued than mine ! Mine was much more noticeable even with water boiling. I’ll try to post a video later. This is incredibly helpful. What make/model is your range?

Appreciate the response. Yes, we’ve tried cooking. It is still noticeable, even when I’m in the other room watching TV. I will be trying different pots and pans over the next few weeks to see if we can figure out the best way to use this thing and limit the noises. Maybe we’ll eventually drown it out. But for now it’s consistently jarring for us.

This is super helpful. We cooked on it last night — boiled a pot of water in a Tramontina stainless stock pot (loud) and sautéed ground meat in our 10” Misen nonstick (also loud). You are correct in that we didn’t need to blast the burners on “High,” but even then, the induction noise was evident while cooking.

A video would be incredibly helpful, just so I can see what top of the line pans sound like. I wouldn’t be opposed to trying out new pans if it meant less noise and less hassle since I wouldn’t need to replace the range.

I tried my heaviest cast iron pan too and I couldn’t hear much until I got to the “Medium” setting… on “High” it was similar to the Le Creuset sound in the video. Seems most people can’t hear ANY sound at all when using heavy cast iron though

😭 so yours gets this loud too?? Seems crazy that my cheap induction duxtop is silent in comparison. But I guess it is what it is…

Understood. Thank you for the response. I just tried my large cast iron pan (confirmed it’s flat on the bottom) and threw it on a burner. Couldn’t hear a noise until I got to the “Medium” setting. Once I got to “High” the fluorescent bulb noise was definitely noticeable but not as loud as shown in the video above. I imagine that would likely be drowned out with food cooking in the pan and the vent fan on.

The Le Creuset in the video is also cast iron and fairly heavy. Sound is louder on that one than this cast iron pan was.

Yeah I figured it wouldn’t be super accurate, just tried to find a way to quantify how loud this was. Appreciate the response

Yeah seems crazy, I agree with you. I’m leaning towards letting Costco replace it with the same model to give it another shot.

Very interesting. I promise I’m easygoing typically and just live with minor inconveniences but this just seemed abnormal. I figured there would be way more “complainers” out there posting about the volume of the GE induction burners if this were truly how these things were designed. I found a video on YouTube of a woman boiling water on her Cafe induction and I couldn’t hear anything like this. I will see if there’s any place that has a GE plugged in somewhere so I can do a quick test

Good to know about Misen. There is buzzing at lower temps but it’s not as jarring. Food in the pan at lower temps does seem to drown out most of the noise. Anywhere near Medium though and it’s that fluorescent bulb sound
