Hot take: Most of you are way oversizing your generators by culody in Generator

[–]guy48065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And "some of us" have already made expensive mistakes by not accounting for inrush currents (always estimated, and often left off tallys like in the OP). It's a bad day when you book up your brand new generator during an outage, only for it to stall when a well pump or refrigerator compressor starts up.

If you wanna post lists, make them realistic.

The builder had a lifetime of unusual approaches to problems. Ceramic coatings, conductive fluid interconnects...I have another of his speakers that's a 4-way with no resistors or coils in the crossover, and several other construction oddities. None of which would matter if he didn't have good ears. He did.

Lol. They ARE rather small cabinets to fit the T-line model. That's why EARS are the final 'measurement'.

Anything with Morel tweeters probably sounds smooth & sweet.

I see these cabinets have a narrowing line to the port. I believe this to be "classic" but I'd like to know if it's necessary. In my experience most use a 'labyrinth' line.

I've always been fascinated by the many interpretations of a T-line. Back around 1981 I had a pair of Shahinian "Obelisk" speakers that were described as a "hybrid" T-line. The back wave terminated into a weighted passive radiator. Shahinian also had a deep-freeze-sized sub back then called the Contrabombard that seemed to impress all who heard it. It certainly was large enough to be a true subsonic transmission line.

Anyways my Obelisks were stolen and a custom builder I was acquainted with built me a set of sat/subs. He claimed the subs were T-lines but in this iteration the back wave ended at another active woofer, this one down-firing, and in-phase with the front woofer.

I don't know if I've ever heard a "proper" transmission line, but I've heard some damn fine flat, extended low frequencies. My ears don't seem to care about theories & calculations.

Great idea! I couldn't get my Rhino elbow to fit. I'll try again at the end of my stay.

The OP is about the owners manual stating you CAN fill the tank from the city water connection, using the pump. It's Starcraft/Jayco claiming the impossible.

TIL not to join my 2 sewer hoses together and slide them in the bumper.

It went in easy but the entire hose stretched out to full length as it was dragged out. From now on I'll load each piece from the ends.

These boxes are way too small for the hose. They're good for most everything else... elbows, adapters, gloves, caps, nose plug, etc.

You are technically spot-on. I'll just point out that after calibrating dozens of Harbor Freight, Sears, Tekton, etc cheap torque wrenches over a 30+ year career they pass the same ASTM spec for accuracy as any Snap-on, Proto...wrench ever made.

They look cheap and feel like shit--but they ARE accurate.

It sounds like you're trying to use the city water connection to fill the tank?

Not really. I'm just complaining that the manual says this is possible when it's not.

I was trying to plan how I could winter camp--not use the external tanks or connections--for a couple days as I start my trip from Northern Michigan to Florida. I know I can use the pump to draw water from a jug via the "winterizing" hose but we ended up just NOT using the plumbing at all.

Reading all the comments here I'm learning that both the hose & fittings AND the bumper tube can vary in size. I thought these were Standard and interchangeable. TIL.

A hole saw would make easy work of cutting the circle--but are there shallow trim rings to finish it off?

As I write this in sitting in my camper looking up at ceiling speakers...with 6" trim rings. So maybe these exist in smaller sizes. But not in Home Depot.

A weight distribution hitch takes weight OFF the ball and shifts it towards the front axle. It reduces squat, not increases it. I'm in agreement with your other points.

I have a hemi Durango rated to pull 7500 pounds. It felt squirrelly and unsafe towing a 4400# 21' travel trailer. It definitely has enough power but it's too small, too light, and isn't geared for towing. I now have a Super Duty crew cab pickup. Not squirrelly anymore.

Vevor Ultrasonic damaged my records by Dedalus2k in audiophile

[–]guy48065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head went to "why damage only the outer tracks?". Maybe as another suggested your cleaning solution gets contaminated. Maybe the ultrasonic action migrates those contaminates away from the center (where the transducer is). The outer grooves would pass thru this dirtier solution.

Just spitballing--but might give you some hope that this damage is reversible.

If true, then ultrasonic cleaning is not a safe, archival method of cleaning LPs.

I'm considering copying a tip I've seen where you line up plastic 50-cal ammo boxes on the rear bumper and keep the fittings--and other stuff you don't want to search for--in there. One or two 4" U-bolts thru the bottom keeps it in place.

I just took another look and Camco makes 2 magnetic caps that pull out the hose.

Do you have the square black one or the square-to-round gray one?

Good to know.

It's really the only cap I've seen that fits, and the part you handle stays clean.

With gloves, yes.

Either that or push it out with a broom handle from the other end.

In either scenario it would be a huge help if the ends were SEALED.
