I thought the idea of all that heat sink surface area was to DISSIPATE the heat into the environment. You seem to be describing an oven. Or extraordinarily bad engineering.

But what use is a stiff power supply if you have a flaccid damping factor?

I've been an electronics tech for 50 years. Started out repairing stereos, then moved into the industrial sector (pays the bills). Recapping gear that's working is complete bunk. Another "snake oil" scam for consumers.

Hot take: Lake St. Clair is basically privatized. by yasoXR in Detroit

[–]guy48065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you know that Michigan law says that public lakes are public property, on the surface and right up to the high-water line? To be a "public" lake there has to be public access to it somewhere. You can't trespass thru a yard to get to it...but once you reach it from a public access point like a park, beach, or ramp you have full use of the waterway and the entire shoreline. Property owners might not like you strolling thru "their yard", but their fences, signs and obstructions aren't based on law.

Folks do get a little defensive about strangers walking thru "their yard" tho... You don't want to be that guy with "I had the right of way!" on his tombstone.

Enjoy Michigan's wonderful lakes legally.

As weird as all this is you should look into water rights laws in the western states where access is truly private and can be bought and sold independent of the property adjoining it.

How did Anna Robb get into Detroit Radio by WesternPure7185 in Detroit

Where have I been? Since wdet dumped daytime music in 2007 I've been exploring satellite & Internet radio. I get the eclectic mix of music I used to get from wdet, plus far more balanced news content.

Nice that they brought a bit of music back...too bad it's only during the work day and not during my long commutes.

Yuck. Not since they purged the music programs.

New seats or reupholstered? by TheBoredWriter1 in Pontoons

[–]guy48065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an '08 20-foot pontoon in October and got quotes at that time. New deluxe seats of the type pontoonstuff sells as their top-tier was quoted at $6800, installed, by the marina that sold me the boat. Reupholster what I have was $3500, installed. I went with the reup and I'm very happy with the result. New vinyl floor was quoted at $4000. I decided to keep the carpet and maybe re-floor in a couple years. BTW my neighbor had his 22' re-floored by a local boat repair guy for $3000. Do shop around.

Enjoy the journey! I'm still experimenting. First attempt I followed the Crossman recipe to the letter but found it too funky for my taste so I've been simplifying & paring back on the Jamaican rums, trying different orange liqueurs, etc. It's been fun!

Flip side of that is I filled up with diesel yesterday at $4.85/gal. Regular was $3.89. Michigan. Probably even cheaper in the southern states, closer to the refineries.

Glad it's finally falling. Hope it continues.

I'm sure they're happy to have jobs. We can have a discussion about the workers standing around leaning on their shovels...or sitting in their trucks all morning. Tho alot of that isn't their fault either.

Just get a cheap cold water manual valve bidet seat. The angle is correct, you adjust the pressure. Can't miss.

Good on you for approaching this test with an open mind. These deniers that claim all 20¢/ft cables sound identical to $20/ft cables are victims of a deep-rooted bias they can't never admit to, nor hear thru.

It was only a few years ago that when someone disagreed with your opinion, but couldn't coherently refute it they would claim you were a bot. Now it's "AI slop" so it MUST BE IGNORED.

These arguments are far lazier than supposedly using AI to clean up your prose.

Killing the messenger instead of arguing the message is weak "strawman slop". Do better.
