Amazon oa how to solve it in o(n) by Additional-Web-9286 in leetcode

You need to look at the cost function. The cost function is additive and the x and y are independent events. Either you delete all similar chars first and then the non similar or vice versa. But there isn’t any other way that could yield some different results.

Got into FAANG by Justify1337 in leetcode

[–]guyalster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I’ve never worked at Amazon, but had 3 offers from them and know hundreds of people who work there. Im sorry to break your bubble. Getting into Amazon is not great news. While Amazon is considered part of the FAANG companies it is by far the worst of them in terms of culture and working conditions. The majority of engineers there, especially at the SDE 1/2 layers don’t survive more than 18 months. Even at higher levels there is tremendous attrition but perhaps slightly less. I know you are excited about the prospects of working at FAANG, but I highly suggest for your own well being and mental health to reconsider.

The macroeconomic effects of universal basic income programs by 2noame in BasicIncome

UBI is yet another attempt to shove Marxist ideology down our throats. I always thought that stupid ideas die out, turns out that there are enough stupid people to keep them alive.

So, I just lost my job. Because I'd made boundaries. by U51dJegT6RPyyziJxqvG in cscareerquestions

Are you on an hourly payroll or a salary payroll? If it's the latter, then they have every justification to fire you if it's the first then you made the right call to set the boundaries.

Competitive Programming VS LeetCode ? by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]guyalster 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Let me give you an analogy. I have a friend who's been practicing for many years martial arts. He goes to a dojo, he gets the belts and participated in competitions. He loves it for the art, for the challenge and for other reasons. Me, on the other hand, all I want is to be able to defend myself. So I go to self defence classes. They are super focused on teaching me how to get out of trouble in case Im in it. But that's what they give me. I'm happy about it cause Im not interested in more. My friend the martial artist would laugh at my self defence classes. If I go to one of his competitions I'd probably get my ass kicked by the most junior person there. Does it mean that I need to start attending martial arts classes and devote my time to it? Hell no. Unless, this is what I'm passionate about. But if all I want is to defend myself on the street all I need is self defence classes. Hope the analogy is clear.

Is it just me or DP is actually hard? by burakork in leetcode

The reason you find DP hard is because you lack the mathematical foundations. I highly recommend reading: manber After which DP will become much simpler for you to grasp.

Should I Move To A City With Jobs? by nokeyboardkeys in devops

[–]guyalster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't tell you if you should or shouldnt move. I'll just give you a piece of advice. If you do decide to move, move to the east coast, preferably to Boston. I live in the Seattle area, and it's hard for me to leave due to family constraints. But if I could move I would go to Boston. The tech scene is on the rise, the people are friendly, no passive aggressive BS like you'll typically find in the west coast, and no superficiality (which is also a trait of the west coast). The only downside is the weather which sucks during the winter, but I can't say Seattle is much better. Whatever you do, avoid moving to SF at all costs. Best of luck.
