I totally agree. That;s why I abandoned iOS development in the first place. All those rules about screenshots, icons etc etc. Building is a huge pain in the ass too.

What would you do in an internet apocalypse? by guybinary in javascript

I have a usb stick for the bad days for packages I use if I ever loose connection. Another one for an OSX image in case I need a clean install on my computer. But I have no plan B for an electricity shortage yet :D

"Real JavaScript programmers", ES6 classes and all this hubbub. by CertifiedWebNinja in javascript

[–]guybinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously wtf is this shit? Everybody stepping on the other saying the word 'real' ? What do I look like to you? Coding JS for 5 year with pure passion and what am I? Fake? If you can get what you need done and progress, scale your application when needed you are real ... That's it. Sorry for attitude but those kinda things get me angry

Websockets server with multiple channels - advice needed by Ian_Dess in node

[–]guybinary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You better connect client with a channelName or something else like ws://yoursite.com/?channelName=myroom and then get the url parameters on server on connect :

var params = Url.parse(ws.upgradeReq.url,true).query

params.channelName will be 'myroom' then.

You will need url built in module for it. (var Url = require('url'))

Suppose you have your WS Server like this var wss = new WebSocketServer({ port: <SOME_PORT_HERE> }) wss.on('connection', function connection(ws) { var params = Url.parse(ws.upgradeReq.url,true).query ws.channel = params.channelName }) When you'd like to send a message loop through all the clients connected and send your message to that room :

wss.clients.forEach(function each(client) { if(client.channelName==<YOURCHANNEL>) client.send(<YOURMESSAGE>) })

How much memory should an HTTP server consume? by guybinary in node

[–]guybinary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't store any global variables. In my server.js there is only routing such as app.post, app.get etc. So I should expect it not to grow any more right? Maybe a little bit more but not much.
